BAD NEWS FOR MCCAIN: Hispanics appear to be shifting to Obama for president.

*During the Democratic primaries, Senator Hillary Clinton succeeded in grabbing roughly two-thirds of the Hispanic vote and she crushed Senator Barack Obama in the Puerto Rican primary.

However, recent polls suggest that the nation’s largest ethnic minority is turning to Obama instead of his Republican rival John McCain.

For example, a Gallop poll released last week shows 62 percent of registered Latino voters nationwide favoring Obama while only 29 percent are backing McCain.

In addition, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus recently threw its support behind Obama.

Regardless, Obama does not appear to be taking Hispanic support for granted. Last week he appointed two veteran political operatives to begin work building up his support among Hispanics. (source: Taylor Media Services)
