FRESH PRINCE'S MOM DIRECTS PLAY: Veteran actress/director Vernee Watson helms high school musical this Fourth of July weekend in LA.(July 4, 2008)
*Vernee Watson, Will Smith’s mom on the "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," is partnering with Grammy Nominated Choreographer Jeffrey Paige to co-direct the summer production of high school musical, "A Hole In The Wall." The production, featuring a cast of students from City Honors High School at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles on Saturday July 5th and Sunday July 6th. Written and choreographed by Paige, the performances will serve as a fundraiser for arts and education programs at City Honors High School. Acknowledged as one of the top schools in the nation by US News & World Report, City Honors is a unique high school with programs that provides students with the opportunity to graduate with a high school diploma and an AA degree at the same time. Students at City Honors represent high academic achievers in the city of Inglewood. "I thank Vernee and everyone in joining us to empower and support our students who represent character, high academic achievement and extraordinary performing abilities," says Thelma Brown, Principal ofCity Honors High School. Vernee Watson's credits include "Welcome Back Kotter," "CSI," "Desperate Housewives" and "Days of Our Lives" to name a few.
