On Wednesday, July 30, a severe thunder/lightning storm tore through Nashville, Tennessee striking the home of Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III. Bishop Walker was traveling when the storm hit and was not at home; there were no injuries.

Extensive damage occurred after the home was struck by lightning; it caught fire and flooded. Much of the interior was destroyed nearly beyond repair. Fire officials stated that the fire started in the upstairs theater room.

Bishop Walker will be displaced from his home for up to eight months. As reported by Nashville News Channel 5's Helicopter, repairmen were on the scene to cover the holes on the roof after the lightning strike.

On Sunday, August 3rd, less than a week after the incident, Bishop Walker gave testament to God's peace as he preached a passionate and fiery message during all five of his sermons at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Reflecting on the death of his wife just three years ago and now experiencing the loss of his home, Bishop Walker made an emotional comparison of the Potter's hand still applying pressure to shape the nature of his life.
