NICK CANNON'S BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT AT CITY OF REFUGE: All-day happening runs tomorrow, Saturday, from 9am to 9pm.

Annual event will provide school supplies, entertainment and prayer covering to school-aged youth

(GARDENA, CA) The 11th annual Back-to-School Conference and Conference returns to the City of Refuge in Gardena, Saturday, August 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This popular fun-filled event will be hosted by Nick Cannon of MTV’s hit show ‘Wild N’ Out’. The popular on-air personalities, Niele Anderson, and 102.3 FM KJLH’s, Aundrae Russell will also make a special appearance.

The Back to School Conference and Concert 2008 will feature workshops, seminars and a “Youth Entrepreneurial Panel” and one hour of a fully-charged hip-hop concert.

Performers will include Trinitee 5:7, J. Moss’ hit group, 2103 with celebrity guests Vincent Ward of The Wire, Aaron Meeks of the movie, Soul Food, Jamal (Herculeez) and Jerod (Big Tyme) Mixon of The Cookout, Deyonce Watts of Freedom Writer, Daniel Curtis Lee of Nickelodeon’s, Ned’s Classified School, and Actor Nathaniel Lee.

A special salutatory presentation to outstanding celebrities and individuals who continue to make a difference in the lives of our young people will also take place. Executive Producer, Bishop Noel Jones, Pastor of The City of Refuge and Producer, and Dorean Edwards continue to bring “top notch” events to the community for the entire family.

“We are excited on bringing the Back to School Conference and Concert for the 11th year to the City of Refuge. The support has been incredible and education is the key”, stated Bishop Jones.

“We always stress to our young people at City of Refuge, the importance of receiving a quality education and contributing something of value to others”, adds Jones. More surprise celebrity guests to be added. Seminars, free food, and over 4,000 “Back to School” supplies will be given away and a fully charged hip-hop gospel concert is set to take center stage at the City of Refuge located at 14527 South San Pedro in Gardena. An evening red carpet event will include a star-studded celebrity line-up.
