*You could cut through the mixture of nervousness, tensionand sheer excitement at the DNC prime time keynote address on Day 2 in Denver.

In perhaps the most important speech of the Democratic National Convention she didn’t do it. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton was expected to release her delegates to former rival Senator Barrack Obama in a final “coup” between the Clinton and Obama camps.

She single-handedly was to be the salve to heal the left-winged party breach that has been fodder for political pundits since she suspended her campaign for the presidency. Instead Clinton delivered the concession speech that never happened.

After reflecting on the 35-years of public service she devoted domestically and abroad, she said she is pledging her support to Barrack Obamaas all Democrats should.

“Barack Obama is my candidate.  And he must be our president,” she said and repeatedly asked her supporters to back the Illinois Senator.

However as observed in Rev. Eugene Rivers’ MSNBC analysis, “She endorsed without embracing.”

Now, the fate of the party is subject to a vote, lying inthe hands of the pledged delegates.  A Hillary trump is far-fetched, but could technically still happen..

Clinton will tell her delegates in a meeting Wednesday tovote for Obama.  Some of them still planto vote Clinton out of loyalty and respect to affirm her historical candidacy for the roll call record.

The general consensus among the electrified attendees was that her words accomplished the challenge of presenting a unified front:  the Dems indeed united last night.

Judging from the crescendos of praise that drowned out parts of the address, her resolution to fully support the almost-certain Dem nominee was effective.

Some of her die-hard followers refuse to cast a vote for Obama and will stubbornly write Hillary’s name on the ballot in the general election.

Whether Dems collectively act on the message they received remains to be seen.

She thanked her foot soldiers, largely a female base, for nevergiving up on her , calling them the  “sisterhoodof the traveling pants.”

She said the plea wasnot about her.

“I want you to ask yourselves, were you in this campaign just for me?” she inquired rhetorically.

Anotherclear goal was to indicate her political ambitions have not dissolved.Hillary was a saleswoman speaking to consumers with Demoratic buyers remorse for the contest who they think gauranteed the party a White House victory.

She wanted to ensure  the relevance of the "18 million" cracks in the sexist glass ceiling she shattered by becoming the first female contender to get this close to leading the free world.

“My mother was born before women could vote.  But in this election my daughter got to vote for her mother for president,” noted the poised stateswoman.

Her husband Bill Clinton proudly, and daughter Chelsea stoically looked on from the sidelines.

In the end her fighting spirit prevailed as she inserted the HarrietTubman quotes that blatantly suggest that she won’t give up and 2012 is in her view.
