*Vogue diva Anna Wintour and actress Sarah Jessica parker are hosting a fundraising fashion show for Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama during Fashion Week in New York City.  The Sept. 9 event at the Charles Nolan Studio will feature designs from Beyoncé and Tina Knowles for House of Dereon, Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Juicy Couture, Narciso Rodriguez and Proenza Schouler, among others.

*Canadian television network ichannel launches its eighth season on Sept. 22 with "Senator Obama Goes to Africa," a documentary that follows the presidential candidate in 2006 as he retraces his ancestral roots by touring South Africa, a Darfur refugee camp in Chad, Robben Island the infamous prison where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated, and his father's former home Kisumu, Kenya. "You watch a man who could become one of the most powerful leaders in the world, as he travels through countries where the poverty and repression are palpable, " explains Director of Programming Rosemary Fusca, "We wanted something extremely powerful and exceptionally relevant to kick off a season that promises to be ichannel's most expansive, eclectic and adventurous to date."

*Republican presidential candidate John McCain aired a one-night-only ad congratulating his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama, for his historic nomination on the 45th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. However, McCain's move was quickly criticized by pundits for attempting to draw attention away from Obama's highly-anticipated nomination acceptance speech, as the ad aired before, during and after the coverage on national cable television.
