For 30 years Paul Porter has been the lead singer of the legendary gospel quartet, The Christianaires.  On September 30th he releases his debut solo album, "A New Day," on Light Records.

Songs for "A New Day" were picked to embody the promise Porter made to God during his sickness.

"I told Him when I got off my sick bed; I would testify everywhere I went," Paul Porter said.

"My Redeemer Lives," "I'll Praise You," and "I Know a Man" are songs where Paul shares his faithfulness to God.

"There were a lot of songs that were imbedded in me and it is now my time to share," he says.

The song "What Did You Do," written by Porter, is a traditional hand-clapping, aisle dancing song that feels like Sunday morning.  The 'must get up and dance' song helps listeners go back and remember what they did when the Lord saved them.

"You're Blessed" and "Get Away And Pray," are songs that a young audience could listen to.  They capture the elements of an R&B groove of which Porter adds his spiritual touch.

The quartet swinging, "I Made it Through," has a traditional feel with punchy horns and tight background vocals. Paul is also joined on the CD by Harvey Watkins, Jr. of the Canton Spirituals on "He's There All The Time." The duet ushers in the Spirit of God with the choir chiming in woven over the testimony and interplay between Paul and Harvey.

Paul Porter is most recognized as the thunder-throat lead vocalist of the Christianaires; gaining notoriety as one of the most renowned quartet outfits.  Known for his vocal flexibility and an array of music talents; arranging, producing, and writing for artists such as the Williams Brothers, the Canton Spirituals, and the Drifters.  He also has shared the stage with Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls and K-Ci, lead singer of the 90's super group, Jodeci.
