GARY COLEMAN HITS FAN WITH TRUCK: Two sides offer different accounts of incident outside Utah bowling alley.

*A nice night at the bowling alley for Gary Coleman and his wife ended up with the actor nearly running over a fan with his truck.

Utah's ABC 4 News reports that the incident took place at South County Bowling Lanes in Payson, where Coleman is a regular patron. The actor and his wife were finishing their game when 24-year-old fan Colt Rushton asked to take a picture of him with his cell phone, according to Coleman's bodyguard, who didn't want to be identified.

When the former "Diff'rent Strokes" star said no, Rushton got aggressive, said the bodyguard.

“He asked the kid not to take pictures. Why can’t he be an adult and respect his [Coleman’s] privacy,” said his bodyguard, adding that the harassment continued outside as Coleman and his wife tried to leave. “This kid would not back off—he would not back off.”

Police say Coleman’s truck struck Rushton and hit a car that had pulled up behind Coleman’s truck. The bodyguard says Rushton ran to the back of Coleman's pickup as the actor was backing out. “The kid was way careless. He was reckless.  Who runs out on somebody that’s turning?”

Rushton, meanwhile, says Coleman’s wife took his cell phone, and Coleman threw several punches at him before getting behind the wheel of his truck.  Rushton says he was trying to get his cell phone from Coleman when the actor put his truck in gear and struck Rushton, knocking him to the ground.

“He did not intentionally hit this kid,” argued Coleman's bodyguard, “[Coleman] was just trying to get out of here.”

Police say no one has been arrested or cited and say there’s some indication alcohol was a factor.

AKON SHOWN TOSSING TWO MORE FANS: Latest incident took place Saturday in Guyana, South America.

*While awaiting trial for a fan-tossing incident in Fishkill, New York, singer Akon was caught on tape shoving two more fans into the crowd during a concert Saturday in Guyana, South America.

The footage, view here: http://view.break.com/566370], shows Akon grabbing one of two girls who had jumped on stage, and pushing her back down into the crowd. He then grabs the other girl and does the same thing.

The artist is due back in court Dec. 1 for the first fan-tossing case, where he's charged with one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of second-degree harassment.

Cell phone cameras captured Akon throwing a 15-year-old boy from the stage into the crowd during the Fishkill concert in June 2007. The unnamed teen landed on another fan in the crowd, who later claimed she had been diagnosed with a concussion.

MIJAC ONLY JACKSON MISSING AT BMI TRIBUTE: Janet gets emotional honoring big bros; T-Pain collects multiple awards.

*Every single member of the Jackson family except for Michael showed up to the BMI Urban Awards ceremony Thursday night, where the singing brothers were honored with the prestigious Icon award.

Although T-Pain was the big winner during the 8th annual ceremony, which took place at the Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills, headlines from
the evening were focused on Michael Jackson's big no-show.

Parents Katherine and Joseph Jackson were on hand, as were sisters LaToya, Rebbie and Janet, who got choked up while introducing her brothers Tito, Randy, Jackie and Marlon as they received their Icon award.

"Family is the most important commodity that all of us have," she said. "I am so proud to be able to salute my brothers."

According to People magazine, Janet called off the names of each brother and said, "I salute you for your talent and your musical gifts you've given the world. I tell you that every time we speak. I'm so excited to salute you!"

While Michael didn't make it to the event, his brothers offered their support for him and his upcoming album. "We haven't heard it, but we've heard about it," Randy told reporters. "It's going to be great."

Earlier in the evening, T-Pain earned the coveted Songwriter of the Year crown and shared the Producer of the Year trophy with crossover king Jonathan “J.R.” Rotem and hip-hop star Kanye West. Song of the Year honors went to Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable,” co-written by Ne-Yo, Amund Bjøerklund and Espen Lind, while Universal Music Publishing Group secured the Publisher of the Year title.

Throughout the ceremony, the audience also enjoyed live performances of many of the award-winning songs by music’s biggest stars including Rick Ross, T-Pain, Lil’ Wayne, Ray J, LLOYD, Mario, JoJo, Keri Hilson and Yung Berg.

MARION JONES RELEASED FROM PRISON: Track star served nearly all of her six months sentence.

*Former track star Marion Jones is a free woman following her release from prison early Friday morning, according to a U.S. federal Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman.

The one-time Olympic athlete was ordered behind bars in March in Fort Worth, Texas, after she admitted lying to federal investigators about her use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Jones, 31, served nearly the entire six months of her sentence and was released from a halfway house in San Antonio. Her sentence also included 800 hours of community service and two years' probation.

The sprinter won three gold and two bronze medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She returned her medals — golds in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 1,600-meter relay and bronzes in the long jump and 400-meter relay. The International Olympic Committee has erased her results from the books.

ROBIN THICKE CALLS OUT VIBE ON RACE: Singer says magazine won't put whites on cover; editor doesn't deny it.

*During an interview with Billboard magazine to promote his new album "Something Else," (due today), Robin Thicke mentioned that he was denied the cover of Vibe magazine because he is white.

"When I did a recent interview with Vibe Magazine I asked, 'Why can't I get the cover? This is a magazine I love. If there's one magazine that I'd want to be on the cover of, it's Vibe," Thicke told Billboard. "Their response was they don't have white artists on the cover; that the only white artist they've had on the cover was Eminem. I guess if that's what it is, it is what it is."

Thicke, who discusses the issue of race within the pages of Vibe's October issue, continued to Billboard:  "I respect that because I live in a house with a black woman. I won't use the word racism. I will say it's a tough -- but rewarding -- fight."

In a statement responding to Thicke's comments, Vibe's vice president and editorial director Danyel Smith does not deny the singer's allegations.

"We have a great deal of respect for Robin Thicke and his music, and we remain flattered by his desire to be on a Vibe cover," said Smith. "A Vibe cover is a huge milestone in any artist's career. Recent cover stars include Young Jeezy, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Usher, Senator Barack Obama, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Robert De Niro, to say nothing of our 15-year history. We wish Thicke the best, and were glad he discusses his thoughts on race and R&B in the new October 2008 issue of Vibe."

*Rapper MC Breed was rushed to an Atlanta hospital with kidney failure and is said to be in desperate need of a transplant.

The 36-year-old artist, best known for his hit "Ain't No Future in Yo Frontin'," was playing a game of pickup basketball Friday evening when he collapsed and lost consciousness.

“He had to be revived three times,” his manager Darryl Morris told AllHipHop.com. “He had to be rushed to the hospital where they diagnosed him and told him his kidneys have failed.”

He was placed on life support, but was taken off sometime on Sunday, reports TMZ.com.  He'll remain in the Atlanta hospital for at least another week under observation, according to the Web site. His kidneys are only 30 percent functional.

50 CENT WANTS INCREASED VISITATION WITH SON: Rapper asks judge for more time with 11-year-old Marquise.

*Rapper 50 Cent has reportedly asked a judge to boost his visitation with 11-year-old son Marquise from one week during the summer to one month, as well as every other weekend throughout the entire year.

According to TMZ.com, the artist also requested access to his son during school breaks.

“[50's] request maximizes the time [Marquise] can spend with [him] while remaining sensitive to [his son's] schedule,” said Brett Kimmel, 50's lawyer.

The boy's mother, Shaniqua Tompkins, filed a restraining order against 50 that limited the amount of time he could spend with Marquise. She accuses 50 of orchestrating a fire that destroyed his Long Island mansion, where she was living with Marquise at the time. 50 denies her claims and both are due back in court on September 8th.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

"She just brings me so much joy and inspiration," he tells People.com of India, whose mother died in 1993. "She's been the best thing that's ever happened to me. But parenthood has its challenges..."

Like? "India is now dating," he says with a sigh.

Benét said a gut reaction about one of India's boyfriends led him to sit his daughter down and have a little heart-to-heart.

"Basically it was poetic justice because I was 16 before and my mind definitely wasn't on the most honorable..." he says. "We talked and she made the choice herself but through parental openness. He got edited. He's out of there!"

As for the other woman in his life, girlfriend Manuel Testolini, Benet says she inspired many of the sensual songs on "Love & Life," which is due tomorrow (Sept. 9) on her birthday.

"She's a wonderful person," he says. "She's always thinking about how to make the world better. And she's very easy on the eyes."

The couple met at a charity event in Los Angeles two years ago and became "really good friends," he says. "It naturally progressed into something else. We're feeling good. We are really enjoying each other's company."

As for his girlfriend's famous ex-husband, Prince, Benét says, "I met the guy years and years ago and he was very gracious and cool." He adds with a laugh, "But there's no double dating going on."

*Beyonce has worn her wedding ring in public for the first time ever.
The $5 million, 18 carat flawless diamond by Lorraine Schwartz was photographed on the singer during the red carpet madness for Fashion Rocks at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

The singer, who married rapper Jay-Z in April, took off the ring during a duet with Justin Timberlake, but slipped it back on when she donned a short, blonde wig to sing a tribute to blues singer Etta James, whom she portrays in the upcoming movie "Cadillac Records."

Meanwhile, the singer was asked about her superstardom in the October issue of Marie Claire's U.K. edition.

She said: "There is a time limit on being a pop star, yes. Being a legend, an icon? Absolutely not. I'm over being a pop star. I don't wanna be a hot girl – I wanna be iconic."

The artist also admitted that fame comes with its challenges: "There are responsibilities that come along with this life ... trying to have a romantic meal without someone sneaking in to film the whole thing," she said. "I have to work really hard and it's fine because I like it, I love it, but it's a lot of sacrifice."

As for being a woman of color in Hollywood, Beyoncé says she hopes to be an inspiration to future generations of singers: "I think I'm opening doors for more black women, just like Halle Berry and Diana Ross opened doors for me."

"Growing up in Nigeria, I didn't know anything about basketball," he said, according to Reuters. "My career has been a dream career."

Ewing was a long-time rival of Olajuwon's, and his New York Knicks came up short against the Rockets in the 1994 NBA Finals. He never won an NBA title, but earned two Olympic gold medals and finished his career as the Knicks' all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocked shots and steals.

is still in the works for Universal Pictures, with stars Denzel Washington and Clive Owen reportedly interested in reteaming.

Terry George, the writer-director of "Hotel Rwanda," is in negotiations to write the screenplay.

The first "Inside Man," written by Russell Gewirtz, followed a standoff between a bank robber (Owens) and a hostage negotiator (Washington) at a New York bank. Lee expected the sequel would continue the relationship between the two main characters but in a new high-tension situation.

"I want the script to be even better than Russell's, and Russell wrote a really good script," said Lee.

In past interviews, West has said his fourth album would be titled "Good Ass Job," which follows the thread of his first three: "College Dropout," "Late Registration" and "Graduation." However, an official title has yet to be confirmed.

GA CONGRESSMAN CLAIMS IGNORANCE ON 'UPPITY': Westmoreland said he had no clue it had racial undertones.

*Congressman Lynn Westmoreland, R-Grantville has released a statement addressing the outrage over his use of the racially-tinged term "uppity" to describe Barack and Michelle Obama.

"I've never heard that term used in a racially derogatory sense,"
stated Westmoreland. "It is important to note that the dictionary definition of 'uppity' is 'affecting an air of inflated self-esteem -- snobbish.'
That's what we meant by uppity when we used it in the mill village where I grew up."

Speaking to reporters Thursday, Westmoreland described the Obamas as "a member of an elitist class [of] individual that thinks that they're uppity," according to The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper. When the reporter then asked Westmoreland whether he intended to use the word, he said, "Yeah, uppity."

Shortly after Westmoreland's remarks became public, his Democratic opponent, Stephen Camp, sent a statement saying that he will take Westmoreland at his word "on what the Webster's definition of uppity is."

"But anyone who has lived and grown up in the South and in Georgia knows what that word means in the vernacular, and what it has meant for the past 50 and longer years in the discourse of race relations here," Camp said.

"Lynn Westmoreland embarrassed the state of Georgia and the voters in the third district," Camp added. "Such comments are wholly inappropriate and have no place in our nation's political discourse. If Westmoreland thinks that this behavior and language is appropriate for a member of Congress, we cannot bring change to Washington soon enough."

MORGAN FREEMAN DATING DURING RECOVERY?: Actor rumored to have new flame.

Freeman's marriage to Myrna Colley-Lee was under scrutiny after he was involved in a serious car crash in Tennessee last month with female passenger Demaris Meyer. Within days of the accident, his attorney confirmed the married couple had split, although he denied allegations Freeman had been unfaithful to his wife.

The film star suffered a broken arm and shoulder in the accident.

We're just two normal people who are passionate about what we do and we're both living our dream, so we are very blessed. OBAMA BITS: Bon Jovi fundraiser; O'Reilly ratings bump; Michelle on 'Ellen'; Samuel L. fundraiser.

*Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama put in face time at a fundraiser held Friday by Jon Bon Jovi at the rocker's home in New Jersey. "We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about. I don't believe in coming in second," Obama told the guests, who each paid $30,800 for the privilege of meeting the nominee. "The American people can't afford for us to come in second. We've got to win this thing, and we're going to win it with your help."

*Obama's interview with Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly Thursday night brought "The O'Reilly Factor" the second-highest ratings in its history. The show averaged 6.6 million viewers, Nielsen Media Research said Friday, bested only by the March 19, 2003, "O'Reilly Factor" that led into President Bush's nationally televised speech about the beginning of the Iraq War. O'Reilly will have more excerpts from the interview today, Tuesday and Wednesday.

*Obama's wife Michelle appears on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" today as the first guest of the show's sixth season. Among other issues, she'll discuss the drama surrounding Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin and her pregnant 17-year-old daughter.  She tells Ellen "one of the reasons why I'm proud of my husband" is his silence about Palin's family issues. "I know that they care about their kids, and we should let them deal with this issue," said Mrs. Obama, 44, the mother of two young daughters. "This shouldn't be an issue for political discussion."

*In other Michelle Obama news, she attended a fundraiser with celebs Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Denzel Washington and Barbra Streisand at the Hollywood Hills home of Samuel L. Jackson. Washington showed up late because he was watching the acceptance speech of Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin. Streisand, once an avid Hillary Clinton supporter, was reportedly listed as a VIP, which means she must have donated a minimum $28,500 to the presidential nominee, reports FoxNews.com. The evening raised more than $1 million for Obama’s campaign.

BAD FOODS MARKETED TO BLACKS MORE THAN WHITES: Study finds advertising may contribute to higher obesity rates.

*A new study reported by qsrmagazine.com shows that urban marketing of high-calorie foods and beverages exposes black consumers to more unhealthy messages around eating and limits their access to healthy foods, compared to whites or the general population.

The research review, published in the September issue of the American Journal of Public Health, suggests the overall effects of these marketing strategies may contribute to the significantly higher rates of obesity among African Americans than in whites.

"It's hard to make healthy choices when all the signals and supports in your environment tell you to do just the opposite," says the study's lead author, Sonya A. Grier, Ph.D., a former Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health & Society Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania, currently at the American University Kogod School of Business in Washington, D.C. "One way to make a dent in the obesity epidemic is to reverse those messages so that marketing efforts support healthier eating among African Americans."

The researchers conducted a systematic review of published studies to identify the 20 that permitted comparisons of food and beverage marketing strategies to African Americans versus other groups. Despite a limited evidence base, they found that African Americans are more frequently exposed to food promotion and distribution patterns that support unhealthy eating habits.

EUR FILM REVIEW: Mister Foe
Teen Peeping Tom Acts Out in Dysfunctional Family Drama
Film Review by Kam Williams

*17 year-old Hallam Foe (Jamie Bell) hasn't been the same since his mother was found floating in a loch on the family's sprawling estate.

While her official cause of death was deemed suicide by sleeping pills, Hallam has good reason to suspect otherwise. After all, it was only a matter of months before his father, Julius (Ciaran Hinds), a famous architect, married his considerably young secretary, Verity (Claire Forlani).

Strangely, Hallam is as much physically attracted to his step-mom as he is repulsed by her because he's convinced that she's a murderer. These unresolved competing tensions gradually take a toll on his tortured soul, and result in his indulging a variety of perversions.

For instance, while alone in his room, he is likely to put on his birth mother's favorite dress, and to smear her lipstick on his face or in circles around his nipples. And if he's in a mood for socializing, he might drape a dead badger's hide over his head and glide on a rope from his tree house and drop on top of an unsuspecting couple in the midst of lovemaking. But Hallam is also something of a voyeur whose M.O. involves binoculars and his secretly watching women in a state of undress after strategically scaling a roof or hiding in a the belfry of a clock tower.

Anyhow, Hallam realizes it's time to leave town after his verbal confrontation of Verity turns carnal. Next thing you know, he's trying to survive on the streets of Glasgow until he lands in the good graces of Kate (Sophia Myles), a young woman who bears a striking resemblance to his dearly-departed mum. The head of human resources for a big a hotel, she hires Hallam as a busboy who develops an Oedipal crush he feels conflicted about consummating.

This ambivalence gives the boy a good excuse to break out his binoculars, and he starts stalking his fresh prey in a slight variation on the theme he'd just escaped from back home. A kinky character study in a difficult to diagnose personality disorder which works because of the convincing performance of a brooding Jamie Bell in his most memorable outing since Billy Elliot.

Excellent (3.5 stars)
Rated R for nudity and sexuality.
Running time: 96 minutes
Studi Magnolia Pictures
