BET Networks will debut the Praise & Worship Gospel video release "Oh Lord, Stand By Me" by singer/songwriter Ami Rushes on Sunday, October 5, 2008 on Video Gospel. The video was produced and directed by Darryl Lassiter. It deals with one family overcoming life's obstacles. Ami plays a wife and mother in a troubled marriage where disagreements arise with her husband, over her son's failing grades and his desire to join a gang. While trying to keep her family together, her parents have a crisis and Ami runs to their side as well. Overwhelmed by all, Ami runs to prayer and things begin to turn around. "I chose 'Oh Lord, Stand By Me' because I felt it would make a good video and bless people," said Rushes. "And the song means so much because of course we all need the Lord to stand by us and it's a good reminder of that. Also it means a lot to me because Reverend Cleveland wrote it and I wanted to pay tribute to him." "Oh Lord, Stand by Me" is one of the songs from Ami Rushes sophomore release "Lifting" that is garnering rave reviews and consistent radio airplay. The "Lifting" CD is produced by award winning singer/songwriter Kurt Car. The two long time friends offer outstanding arrangements of Gospel favorites such as "I Can Go to God in Prayer;" "He'll Welcome Me;" "Stand By Me;" "Ordinary People;" "In Christ Alone;" and "Been So Good," among others. In an effort to save give back 30% of the proceeds, from the sales of "Lifting," will benefit the Save Africa's Children organization which currently provides support to over 160 orphanages throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
