LA PLAYS HOST TO ANGEL CITY CLASSIC SATURDAY: Event features special tribute to Isaac Hayes and pits Morehouse College Vs Prairie View A&M
Special Tribute Concert to Issac Hayes
*Los Angeles, California -- On Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Los Angeles Coliseum, the West Coast returns with the premiere sports, dance, and music event, the 2008 Angel City Classic, presented by Farmers Insurance Group and Black Educational Events, which will feature the most exciting display of music and dance ranging from the Battle of the Bands and the Ultimate Greek Tailgate Party to the Step Show Showdown, as well as the face off between Morehouse College and Prairie View A&M, classic southern football rivalry at its best.
In the 1960's and 1970's, Los Angeles began a rich legacy of HBCU Classics, with such popular events as "The Soul Bowl" and "Freedom Classic." But, by the early 1980s, HBCU Classics faded from the L.A. scene until just three short years ago when John Fleming and his son John Fleming III of Black Educational Events, returned the festivities to their old glory.
As the producers for the classic with Black Educational Events, Tri Destined Studios is proud to be a part of this community and cultural event, created to increase educational opportunities and awareness for the youth of the city, while at the same time highlighting the great accomplishments of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, who have birthed a plethora of great leaders from Martin Luther King, Jr. to Oprah Winfrey. After the game, as part of the 5th Quarter Concert, the Angel City Classic will pay tribute to the late great Issac Hayes, which will be reminiscent of the historic WattsStax events which Issac Hayes led decades ago. Performers include R&B / Neo Soul singers Angie Stone, Anthony Hamilton, and Lalah Hathaway (daughter of Soul legend Donny Hathaway).

Tri Destined Studios is a film company comprised of Tri Destined Films, Tri Destined Television, Tri Destined Independent and V.I.P. Recently, Tri Destined Films' "Drill Team" was picked up by Universal Studios/Rouge Pictures. This film will be produced with Offspring Entertainment ("Step Up," "Step Up 2"). Tri Destined Films has also optioned the rights to the Life Story of Bev Kearney, the world-renowned track coach from the University of Texas who took her team on a miraculous quest for success, coaching them to the Collegiate and U.S. National (Pre-Olympic) championships, all from her hospital bed, after a horrendous accident almost caused her demise. Blumhouse Productions and New Wave Entertainment have come on as producing partners on this project. In 2007 Tri Destined Films produced "American Dream," starring famed Houston Rapper, Mike Jones distributed by Warner Bros/ Asylum Records. Tri Destined Independent recently completed the indie film "Why Am I Doing This?"
