VING RHAMES STARS IN 'SAVING GOD': A reformed pastor trys to clean his old Baltimore neighborhood of drug dealers.(October 6, 2008)
Ving Rhames stars in “Saving God” as a man who served 15 years in prison for shooting his best friend in a fit of anger who now returns to his old neighborhood in Baltimore to clean up the drug infested streets.
The powerful tale, which also stars Dean McDermott, Ricardo Chaviera and Dwain Murphy, will be out on DVD October 14, 2008. An Echo Bridge Home Entertainment and Cloud Ten Productions release, “Saving God,” is so real-to-life that the viewer will get emotionally involved in the film, which has been approved for ages 12 and over. The film follows Armstrong Cane (Rhames), who is now an ordained minister, home to take over his fathers’ dilapidated church which is three months behind on its second mortgage. Cane tries to save the life of a young drug dealer, Norris (Murphy) who wants out of the business so he can return to school and a decent life with his pregnant girlfriend. Unfortunately he has gotten too much in debt with his drug boss Blaze (McDermott). As the viewer cheers for the troubled teen to make it out, the film keeps them wondering if he will make it, because in reality most do not. It makes the viewer also wonder if Pastor Cane, on parole, will loose the church as well as his freedom as a parolee who is involved with a known drug dealer. Rhames also serves as executive producer on “Saving God.” For more on the film log onto www.savinggodmovie.com
