THE MO'KELLY REPORT: RNC's Sean Conner and Black Republicans

(October 14, 2008)

*Although it is estimated that some 90% of registered African-Americans voters will vote for Senator Barack Obama come November 4th; conversely, approximately 10% will not. In an election that may come down to a small amount of percentage points if "The Bradley Effect" (pre-election polling versus actual returns) plays a role, the importance of the "10%" can't be overstated.

Who makes up this 10% and what is their litmus test in assessing the best candidate for him/herself individually and African-Americans collectively?

Someone who understands the concept of being a "minority" in more ways than one is Sean Conner, Outreach Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee. Going beyond the stale platitudes and paltry soundbite trinkets, Conner truly believes both in the Republican Party and its policies, which in his estimation better benefit Black people.

      Uh...Mo'Kelly disagrees.

Ultimately, Sean and I engage each other in spirited political dialogue frequently, often times agreeing to disagree but never becoming disagreeable with one-another in the process. To be completely honest, the Republican Party would do well to have more like Conner representing it; those who are willing to be intellectually honest in the process of discussing the pros and cons of the right, instead of merely cheerleading neoconservative talking points.

Sean Conner

As we head down the home stretch to the general election, Mo'Kelly took the opportunity to get Conner's thoughts on Black Republicans generally, the general election specifically and the intersection and impact of both.  To hear this interview, you can find it HERE.
