EVE CAST IN DREW BARRYMORE FILM: Philly rapper-actress to play a roller derby queen.

*Rapper Eve has taken a role in the upcoming comedy/drama "Whip It!," which doubles as the directorial debut of actress Drew Barrymore.

The film is adapted from the book "Derby Girl," about the life of author Shauna "Maggie Mayhem" Cross of the L.A. Derby Dolls.

The story follows a small-town Texas girl who finds her identity through a local roller derby league. Barrymore will also play a character in the movie. Eve has been cast as a roller derby diva named “Rosa Sparks.”

Ellen Page and Juliette Lewis also star in the film, which is produced by Barrymore’s Flower Films along with Barry Mendel and Kiwi Smith for Mandate Pictures. Filming is slated to begin in March of 2009.
