2008 OFC BERMUDA FORUM BEGINS THURSDAY: Participants include Robert Johnson, Sharon Pratt, Chris Tucker and Magic Johnson, among others.(November 19, 2008)
*Washington, DC -- The best and the brightest from the area of Health Technology and Finance, such as Dr. Ernest Bates, CEO, American Shared Hospital Services and from the world of global media, such as Blake White, VP & General Manager of Ascent Media Consulting Services, represent just two of the insightful voices one will hear at the 2008 OFC Bermuda Forum. From November 20 - 23, 2008, on the financial savvy island of Bermuda, OFC (Opportunity Funding Corporation) and the Bermuda Office of Tourism are hosting the 2008 OFC Bermuda Forum - a gathering of African Diaspora Thought Leaders, individuals who are significantly impacting the global market place. Forum participants will come from the worlds of business, politics and academia. The three and one half days of "drilling down" on market opportunities has been structured to encourage uncensored conversation and the free flow of ideas. In today's climate - innovation and "out of the box" thinking are required to thrive and prosper. "The 2008 OFC Bermuda Forum attempts to 'push the needle' of thought around sector opportunities in health technology, energy, digital media, global finance and other vital sectors. The caliber of the participants, the preparatory rigor underlying Forum Sessions, and the market opportunities throughout the African Diaspora market makes the 2008 OFC Bermuda Forum a must do event," says Sharon Pratt, former Mayor of Washington, DC and the Director of the Forum. Abt Associates (www.abtassociates.com); and Yale School of Management (www.mba.yale.edu), both Strategic Partners, are deeply involved with the research and preparation of the Forum sessions. Institute of Caribbean Studies (www.icsdc.org); and the Corporate Council on Africa (www.africancl.org) are also Strategic Partners who will support the Diaspora. OFC (Opportunity Funding Corporation) is a 37-year old 501c(3) non-profit that promotes capitalism in capital-poor communities and entrepreneurship in communities of color. The organization has played a significant role in developing minority businesses in the United States, as well as nurturing the creation of a new class of the "professional" African-American Business Manager. In 2006, OFC decided it was now time to aggregate and leverage the talent, the wealth and market insights of leaders throughout the African Diaspora, hence the 2008 OFC Bermuda Forum. The Bermuda Department of Tourism is a Co-sponsor of the event. It is with great pleasure that our island is hosting the 2008 OFC Bermuda Forum, and we will shower the participants with the care and attention they expect and deserve", says Dr. The Honorable Ewart Brown, Premier of Bermuda OFC is an organization that has consistently focused on attracting capital to African Diaspora communities, while supporting programs, promoting entrepreneurship among African Diaspora people.
