CEDRIC FORD SIGNS WITH TYSCOT RECORDS: Heart of Worship prepares to promote its new CD ‘Created 2 Worship.’
The new CD was recorded live in his adopted hometown of Houston, TX and will be released in the spring of 2009.
Gospel fans may recall “Awesome & Mighty” on Shekinah Glory Ministry’s latest CD “Shekinah Glory Live” (certified gold), which Cedric Ford wrote. He was the featured vocalist on the other Shekinah Glory Ministry CD “Praise Is What I Do.”
Ford’s deep Gospel roots and soulful sound has allowed him to grace the stage and pulpit alongside powerhouses as Donnie McClurkin, Dorothy Norwood, Albertina Walker, and Israel Houghton and New Breed.
“These songs have so much diversity in them, unlike a lot of Gospel songs that cannot be sung in the church,” says Ford. “Each song can be set to a church-setting and can be heard by anyone but especially made for the church.”
He adds, “We can skate, jam and dance to a lot of our Gospel music, but our music is to deliver Jesus Christ to the people.”
Cedric Ford has been referred to as ‘the younger version’ of Rance Allen. While Ford does states that Dr. Allen is one of his biggest musical influences, he does and has always admired Stevie Wonder, The Clark Sisters and Donnie Hathaway.
Born and raised on Chicago’s Westside, Ford now a resides in Houston with his wife and two children where he serves as International Worship Pastor of Worship for the Reflections of Christ Kingdom AKA “The Rock” under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Dana Carson.
