In an article in the Dothan Eagle reports that the Southern Gospel group The Gaithers’ up-coming concert sold out 2,800 tickets in four hours. Their concerts have been selling out in city after city on their current concert tour.

The concert will be held in the city of Dothan on January 30, 2009 at the Dothan Civic Center. Fans were in a line that stretched throughout the civic center concourse and on to the portico outside.

Cynthia Skipper, Interim performing arts director for the City of Dothan said that other events have sold out at the civic center, including wrestling and Ringling Brothers Circus, but she said it would be difficult to think of an event that had sold out that quickly.

The concert is headlined by Bill Gaither, known in Southern Gospel industry as the king of Southern Gospel. Also scheduled to perform are the Gaither Vocal Band, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, and Janet Paschal.

The Gaithers are also scheduled for an event in Huntsville on January 29th and in Charleston, S.C. on January 31, 2009. (Source: Dothaneasgle.com)
