EUR GOSPEL BITS: Bishop Andrew Merritt celebrates 30 years; Texas requires students to learn evolution; Evangelists minister to 150,000.

     *Bishop Andrew & Viveva Merritt will celebrate 30 years of music with a live recording. The recording will be held Friday, November 21, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Straight Gate International Church, 10100 Grad River, Detroit, Michigan (48204). Special guests include Minister Steven Ford, Bishop Bruce Parham, Marcus Cole, Carnell Murrell, Dana Powell, Vanessa Williams, Michael and Sherry Bonner. Also performing is the Straight Gate Mass Choir.

     *The Texas Board of Education on Wednesday heard public arguments for and against a current science standard that requires students to be taught the “strengths and weaknesses” of evolution. A majority of board members are in favor of retaining the language.

     *In partnership with nearly 350 local churches, the evangelist team of Luis Palau and son Andrew spread the “good news” of Jesus Christ to 150,000 people in Southern Mexico this past weekend.
