"I had to pay the debt forward, not backward," said Daniel Griffin, co-owner of the successful Wing Stop in Los Angeles, to EURweb during a phone interview.

Griffin has used his blessings of success to bless the people of his community with employment opportunities along with a side of tasty chicken.

There are many stories of how celebrities achieve their dreams, and become industry superstars. In Griffin's case he became a "Community Superstar." He grew up from being an underprivileged youth, to a professional athlete, high school teacher and now he is a successful business owner.

"I'm just here to inspire people," explained Griffin as he reflected on what he went through, to get to where he is today. "I'm just a kid that grew up in a real bad situation; living in shelters, domestic violence shelters, foster homes, and gang violence (infested areas)." With that being said, Griffin also remembers that there were still some good experiences in his life that he wouldn't change for the world.

Daniel Griffin was considered a basketball superstar at Crenshaw high, which in turn landed him on a professional team, in Taipei, Taiwan.

Unfortunately, his career was ended due to a knee injury, and his dreams of becoming a professional athlete were over.  But since then, the six-foot plus, former basketball star has established very lucrative businesses, which have also benefited the community's residents.

The inner city "Golden Boy" admits to having success in his past basketball career, but He says it's nothing compared to the success he has achieved in his neighborhood.

"Helping out the community, and the people, through food, it's such a blessing," he says.

Most of the Staff members of Griffin's "Wing Stop" are from the Crenshaw/Liemert Park area of LA.

"We have a great staff," said Griffin. "If it wasn't for those people, from which I grew up, from the Crenshaw area. Those people are responsible for our success."

Daniel Griffin's "Wing Stop" made 1.6 million dollars in its first year, and was awarded at the Wing Stop National Convention for being one of the top fifteen stores.

"Everybody in the community is helping us full circle. We are not just leaning on Wing Stop the brand. Our location is built on the sweat and tears of the community."

Griffin says that there has been an astounding amount of support from radio stations to local city officials.

Wing Stop is known for its ultimate Buffalo-style chicken wings, which include various flavors: Hawaiian, Garlic Parmesan, Teriyaki, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Mild, Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic (extremely hot).  The Aviation themed chain was first launched in Dallas, Texas in 1994, and began offering franchises in 1998.

Now that Daniel Griffin has the whole community on his staff, he has a bit more time to flex his entrepreneur muscle in his other businesses. Coming up next for Griffin, he will launch an exclusive vehicle transportation business. Also look out for R&B artist Lina's new CD "Morning Star," which was executive produced by the big man himself.
