NU TRADITION PERFORMS ON BET’S SUNDAY BEST: December 14, Tyscot Records’ newest singing group premiers debut release.(December 12, 2008)
A rare and special gathering of young adults have come together to form a singing group like no other – Nu Tradition. Their different brand of music will be showcased on The Bobby Jones Gospel Show Sunday, December 14 on Black Entertainment Television (BET). The show airs at 9:00 a.m. EST and re-airs at 10:00 p.m. EST.
Nu Tradition’s self-titled debut album was recently released on Tyscot Records and is now available in stores and online. They will sing two songs from their latest CD on The Bobby Jones Gospel Show including the lead single “Victory Shall Be Mine.” They are also featured alongside Tye Tribbett & G.A. and William Murphy. “Our songs can be sung at Sunday morning services or any choir concert,” says Nathan Young, one of the founding members. “It will make you clap, dance and shout. We are taking you to church with our mix of old-time favorites as well as new contemporary tunes.” Artists featured on their new CD include some of Gospel music’s finest Praise and Worship leaders such as Dr. Judith Christie McAllister, Lamar Campbell, and Rev. Lawrence Thomison. The brainchild behind this clever project is versatile producer Austin Moore. Moore adds, “I think this is one of the most amazing groups I have come in contact with. Their talents and gifts speak volumes. If you like traditional music, then this album is a must have. It is something that all ministers of music will love to cherish.” Nu Tradition is made of young people ages 20-35 from various southern U.S. cities. They were inspired by the vision of the oldest living active Bishop in the Church of God in Christ, 96-year-old Bishop A.T. Moore of Louisville, KY. “This is the most powerful album I’ve ever sung on. The single is very inspirational, encouraging and uplifting. In times like these, the people need to hear that no matter what the circumstance, ‘Victory Is Mine,’” Grammy Award nominee, Rev. Lawrence Thomison said. “I would classify the Nu Tradition Sound as the sound of the present with the heart of the past. There’s nothing like hearing good Gospel music done in a fresh way without losing the soul and roots of tradition. You’re gonna’ love it,” Praise and Worship leader, Lamar Campbell.
