MAVIS STAPLES TO PERFORM AT RENO CASINO: Legendary gospel/soul singer to perform The Nugget on January 17.

Soul and Gospel legend Mavis Staples has a performance scheduled for the Celebrity Showroom at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Reno, Nevada on Jan. 17, 2009.

In her early days has a Gospel/Soul singer Marva shared lead vocals with her family group, the Staple Singers and also had a solo recording career.

Staples is a 40-year veteran of the music scene, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and one of VH1's "100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll.
