TP GETS MJB FOR NEXT FILM: Mary J. Blige says yes to Tyler Perry for 'I Can Do Bad ...'(March 23, 2009)
*Tyler Perry has chosen R&B superstar and nine-time Grammy winner Mary J. Blige to co-star in his next film, "I Can Do Bad All By Myself," due in theaters on Sept. 11. Blige joins cast member Taraji P. Henson, who was nominated for an Oscar this year. The singer will play a nightclub manager and singer who is good friends with Henson's character. The Lionsgate film, adapted from Perry's stage play, is currently shooting at his Atlanta Studios. The venerable and money-making Madea will also make an appearance, says the Hollywood Reporter. As for her acting resume, Blige recently did a guest stint on "Entourage." Her last big-screen appearance was in the 2001 drama "Prison Song." Blige is coming off two sold-out national tours and is in the studio working on a new album due out this year from Interscope Geffen. The singer already has eight platinum or multiplatinum albums.
