A high school music teacher known for his songwriting and local success as a gospel singer can now add ‘pastor’ to his title.
Jeremiah Murphy is the new head of Leading Commandment Church of God in Washington, D.C. It’s the church his father founded thirty-two years ago. “I thank God for His faithfulness and for His patience with me,” Murphy told DCGospelNews. Having performed with gospel icons like Richard Smallwood, Karen Clark Sheard and Tramaine Hawkins, Murphy is well-known for his tune “The Lord Is in This Place.” And in 2006 Murphy was named Maryland State Teacher of the Year for his work as a full-time vocal music teacher and choir director at Largo High School in Largo, MD.
