On her last CD Vickie Winans delivered the hit "Rainbow," which affirmed the storms of life are temporary.  Since then, she has mourned the loss of her beloved mother Mattie Bowman and departed from Verity Records to launch Destiny Joy, her own record label.

On August 4 Winans will tell us how she makes it through trying times with the self-produced release of "How I Got Over." The first single by the same name gives the traditional hymn "How I Got Over" a modern twist, with jazzy scatting from her nephew Tim Bowman Jr., who fans will remember from "Shake Yourself Loose" popularity.

Another career update finds Winans spending more time in the television studio. Known for cracking jokes on stage, Winans will put her good sense of humor to work as the host of a new BET comedy series, "A Time to Laugh," slated to debut in January 2010.

Living up to her reputation as the "Hardest Working Woman in Gospel," the self-managed artist is also a successful businesswoman who owns a jewelry store and wig shop, Accents by Vickie Winans.
