*Known for being an event-heavy town, with some of the best and brightest stationed in the city, Atlanta hosts events frequently. This past weekend did not disappoint.

The “2 Live Stews” of Sports Radio 790 teamed up with sponsor Crown Royal to present the “Stewey Awards.” This 1st annual event and fundraiser benefited the 790 the Zone Foundation, which provides community service resources.

Diverse in its categories, ranging from “Best Old School Legend” to “Keepin’ It Too Real Baller Award” the Stewey awards allowed fans to vote for players from Dr. J. to Plaxico Burris.

The awards’ post-party was held at the trendy W-Hotel Midtown which offered great rates to keep party goers from drinking and driving (cocktails were free, all night) as well as complimentary house limo service, another real perk. Notwithstanding, the cherry on top was the A-List of celebrity attendees. Grammy award winning Big Boi of Outkast performed. He was joined on stage by C-Ball. Traffic on the red carpet included: World Class DJ, Kid Capri; NFL brother duo, Boss and Champ Bailey; Angie Stone, R&B recording artist; Boris Kodjoe, Actor; Bryan Michael Cox, Music Producer; Bryan Scott, Buffalo Bills; Craig Sager, Turner Sports Personality; Demetria McKinney, Actress; Dennis "Spyda" Chism, And 1 Basketball Player; Dennis Scott, Retired NBA Player/Atlanta Hawks/Radio Analyst; Dorsey Levens retired NFL Player; Dukes of Daville, Capitol Records recording artist; Edward Long, Jr. Actor/Inspirational Speaker; John Boy, Music Producer; Lamman Rucker, Actor; Kenya Moore, Actress & former Miss USA; Karon Riley, former NFL player and wife, Terri J. Vaughn, Actress; Keshia Knight-Pulliam, Actress; Devyne Stephens, Music Producer; Roger Bobb, Executive Producer, Tyler Perry Studios; Malik Yoba, Actor; Michael Jai White, Actor; Mr. Collipark, Music Producer; Ovie Mughelli, Atlanta Falcons; Reggie Howard, former NFL Player/President, Allied Athlete Group Foundation; V.I.C., Hip-Hop recording artist; and of course, Doug and Ryan Stewart—the 2 Live Stews. Theirs was the party not to miss. All access and interaction, partygoers and VIP guests mixed it up until dawn broke.

Also, this weekend’s fundraising events brought several NFL players out to support the Community In Schools of Atlanta. Among them were Chad Jackson of the Denver Broncos, Nate Jones AKA, the super-intellectual, of the Miami Dolphins, and Anthony Henry, AKA Black of the Detroit Lions. Individually involved in community efforts of their own, Jackson, Jones, and Henry were enthusiastic contributors to CIS’ endeavors to support Atlanta based youth.

“I’m always down to give back to the community and the kids. The kids look up to athletes and guys like us, so it’s always good to show your face at events like this,” Jackson said of the CIS fundraising dinner, held at the tres chic, Hotel Palomar.

“I give and help, whatever it is. I have such a global perspective and I do a lot of traveling,” said Jones who talked about his expanse of travel, from South Africa to Brazil.

“You enjoy the vacation, but you see things from a worldly perspective: poverty, hunger, disease, and other issues,” Jones continued.

Henry, a native of Fort Myers, has previously had his own charitable foundation, but continues to support youth by working with his former high school coach to send youth to Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ camps.

In partnership with the 2nd Annual NFL Back 2 Camp Charity Weekend, Ligatt Security/Spoofem.com presented two (2) $15,000 scholarships and two brand new laptops for students.

In other ATL news, the film world marked the 20 year anniversary of Spike Lee’s film, “Do the Right Thing.” One of Lee’s high profile actresses, Joi Lee was seen in and about town.

As for down-time enjoyable foodies, there was Gladys Knight’s restaurant and Mary Mac’s Tea Room, which both had soul food specialties that must be Atlanta exclusives, or at least, Atlanta specialties.

This fall EURweb will check back in with Chad Jackson and Nate Jones who were two of the most impressive in the realm of the celebrated and the celebrators.
