ALFRE WOODARD JOINS CBS' 'THREE RIVERS': Actress to replace Julia Ormond as hospital's head of surgery

*Alfre Woodard has been hired to replace Julia Ormond in CBS' new medical drama "Three Rivers" opposite Alex O'Loughlin, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The series is about organ transplants seen through the points of view of the doctors, donors and recipients.

Woodard, a four-time Emmy winner, will play Sophia Jordan, head of surgery at Three Rivers Hospital. The role was recast after being played by Ormond in the pilot.

The actress co-starred in Tyler Perry's "The Family That Preys" and starred for a season on ABC's "Desperate Housewives."
