BLACK EYED PEAS SET BILLBOARD RECORD: Plus, Whitney Houston debuts at #23 on Adult R&B Radio Airplay.(July 31, 2009)
*The Black Eyed Peas set a record this week for the longest successive No. 1 chart run by a duo or group in the Billboard Hot 100's history.
"I Gotta Feeling" is in its fifth consecutive week at No. 1, following 12 weeks at the top by the Peas' "Boom Boom Pow." Boyz II Men reigned on the chart for two 16-week runs in the mid-'90s. Following "I Gotta Feeling" is Drake's "Best I Ever Had" at No. 2, followed by Keri Hilson featuring Kanye West and Ne- Yo's "Knock You Down" at No. 3, and Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" at No. 4. Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" climbs 11-5 this week, courtesy of a 49,000 download gain. Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning" falls 5-6, "Boom Boom Pow" falls 6-7, Lady GaGa's "Lovegame" falls 7-8 and Katy Perry's "Waking Up in Vegas" rises 10-9. Rounding out the top 10 is Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield," which jumps 25-10. It's her third top 10 on the chart, spurred by a 47,000 download gain. On the heels of member Adam Yauch's cancer scare, Beastie Boys make a welcome return to the Billboard Hot 100 as "Too Many Rappers,' featuring Nas, debuts at No. 93. It is the trio's first time on the list since the summer of 2004 and only their second appearance since 1998's "Intergalactic" peaked at No. 28. Meanwhile, Whitney Houston's new single "I Look To You" debuts on the Adult R&B radio airplay chart at No. 23. It's her first appearance on any airplay chart since 2004. "Look" is the title track from the diva's new album, due Aug. 31.
