*Looking drop dead gorgeous in a Roberto Cavallis designer gown, Jennifer Lopez was overcome with emotion as she stepped from a silver gray Bentley on the arm of her handsome husband Marc Anthony who threw a fabulous surprise birthday bash for her on Saturday evening, July 25, 2009, at the Edison Ballroom featuring fans, fancy cars and famous people.

Anthony spared no expense to celebrate the Bronx-born beauty’s big J-40 celebration and even had 47th Street shut down so that Jennifer could marvel at the elaborately decorated entrance of the private club and its glowing marquee that read “Happy Birthday Lola” (Marc’s nickname for his wife).

Themed “An Evening With Lola,” La Lopez was all aglow as she entered the beautiful ballroom to Sarah Vaughan’s “Whatever Lola Wants.”

One thing that Marc did not want was mobile phones, cameras and any type of equipment and guests were pre-warned to leave home without theirs or they would be confiscated.  Marc wanted strict privacy so that guests would focus on his wife and having a good time!

Saturday night, guests included, Carlos Beltran, Javier Munoz, Alicia Keys, Swiss Beatz (who performed a special rap for J.Lo), Mary J. Blige, Ricky Martin, Liza Minnelli, Leah Remini, L.A. Reid, Gayle King, O’Neal McKnight, Alex O’Laughlin, Andre Harrell and manager Benny Medina.

The standout moment at the glamorous gig was when Marc serenaded his wife in Spanish bringing tears to her beautiful eyes.  Then it was party time and guests partied hardy until 4 a.m.  Jenny from the Bronx has come a long way, baby!

That party was a reprisal of a more intimate shindig Marc hosted on Friday night, July 24, at the lavish Hotel Griffon in the West Village for Jenny who looked ravishing in a slinky silver dress.

Here, guests such as Madonna, Beyonce Knowles, Rihanna and Mary J. Blige had to turn over their cell phones, cameras, etc. before entering the private party for a fanciful evening. Like Vegas, whatever happened at the party – stayed at the party.  (Photos by Splash)

*It was announced on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 that Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Marc Anthony became a new minority owner of the Miami Dolphins.

The announcement was made at a special press conference at the Time Warner Center in New York City’s Columbus Circle with NFL and ESPN/ESPN Deportes and hosted by the Miami Dolphins owner and managing general partner, Stephen M. Ross.

Anthony attended with his wife Jennifer Lopez, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, and ESPN president George Bodenheimer at the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle.

“For the past couple of years, I have expressed interest in some kind of team," Anthony said.  "To have this opportunity at this stage of my life, I couldn't be more excited and I'm looking forward to being a part of this storied franchise and rolling up my sleeves and going to work."

Anthony then asked his wife to join him on stage as they held up Miami Dolphins jerseys that had their names on the back to the delight of a cheerful audience.

"As far as the family is concerned, I still have to talk to my father-in-law who is a huge Jets fan," mused Anthony, who will help the NFL celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, which will be highlighted by the Jets-Dolphins Monday night game in Miami on October 12.

The game is the signature event of the NFL’s “Fútbol Americano” initiative celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, and a major component of ESPN’s campaign and programming efforts on ESPN Deportes recognizing the accomplishments of Hispanics in the world of sports.

“We are honored to be chosen as participants of the league’s flagship game celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a national appearance on ESPN’s Monday Night Football at Land Shark Stadium against the New York Jets in October,” stated Ross.

“We are also excited that Marc Anthony is taking such an active role in these wonderful festivities surrounding the game as a new limited partner for the Miami Dolphins.  Marc Anthony is one of the most iconic and celebrated performers on the international music stage, which is why he has been chosen to perform at one of the most prestigious dates on the 2009 football calendar,” concluded Ross.

“We are excited to again partner with ESPN to shine a national spotlight on Hispanic Heritage Month,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.  “The Monday Night telecast will conclude a month-long celebration by NFL teams across the country to honor our Hispanic players and fans.

“We are proud to collaborate with the NFL to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Monday Night Football, ESPN Deportes and other ESPN platforms,” added ESPN president George Bodenheimer.  “Stephen Ross has brought a renewed energy to South Florida and we look forward to working with Grammy Award-winning performing artist Marc Anthony as part of our presentation of this great MNF rivalry game.”

The NFL is committed to serving football fans of all cultures and recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month as a special time and opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Hispanic players, coaches, front-office personnel and fans.  (Photos by Getty Images)
