UPLIFTING MINDS UPDATE: Philly's Charvez and LA's Troyman win 2009 West Coast UMLI Awards for best songwriter and best vocalist.(November 3, 2009)
*Los Angeles, CA - Philadelphia's Charvez (21) and Los Angeles' Troyman (17) walked away with the Best Songwriter and Best Vocalist Awards. Both are Hip-Hop artists and gave the to performances of the October 18, 2009 Los Angeles Uplifting Minds II national talent competition showcase. Charvez won Best Songwriter for his "Make Up, Break Up" selection and Troyman won Best Vocalist for his performance. There was a three way tie for the songwriting award. Charvez tied with Baltimore's Urban R&B artist Tyreika Renee' and Philadelphia's Hip-Hop artist RDot. KDAY 93.5's DJ Heat, who hosted the talent showcase, had the audience decide.
