NOW AT 'EUR THIS N THAT' BLOG: Bye! Justice That Refused to Marry Interracial Couple Quits(November 4, 2009)
*Kevin Bardwell, the Louisiana justice of the peace that refused to marry an interracial couple, has decided to do the right thing and QUIT! Of course, Beth Humphrey, who is white, and her now-husband, Terence McKay, wanted to be first in line to let him know there's no love lost. Too bad they couldn't be the one's in the office that day when he resigned. They could've told him don't let the doorknob hit him where the good Lord split him on his way out. Bardwell came to work and laid his resignation down in a one-liner, "I do hereby resign the office of Justice of the Peace for the Eighth Ward of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, effective November 3, 2009." And everyone is thankful. He even admitted to avoiding marrying interracial couples. (Now, Louisiana is not the place you want to live to avoid that. They have a long heritage of the "creole" people.) The fool went on to say that he didn't want to do it because the children of interracial couples "suffer" too badly. Yeah, it's all about the kids. That's what we thought all the time, right? Click over to link to more details ... if you want them. Everybody, all together now: Good riddance!! ALSO: Mother Reports Baby Run Over By Train Doing Fine (Video) *The video of a young mother tending to her child as her stroller gets away from her at a Melbourne, Australia train stop is bone chilling. A couple weeks ago, we witnessed video that showed the stroller of baby Saurish Verma, rolling in front of a train just as the train approached the station and the mother, Shweta Verma, 29, unable to catch it, nearly attempting to jump in front of the train to catch him. The baby, a mere six months old, was in her lap as she revisited the entire incident on the Today show with Matt Lauer this past Monday. She was relieved that her baby survived with minimal injury, but she cannot stop thinking about what happened ... no parent could. The beautiful baby is in great condition and it is truly a miracle from God that he was not hurt. Click over to WATCH the interview.
