*NBC's "Today" show will broadcast from Afghanistan today and tomorrow with Matt Lauer and Al Roker in the anchor chairs, the network announced.

The pair's presence in the war-torn country comes in the wake of President Barack Obama's announcement last week that he's sending 30,000 more troops there.

Lauer and Roker will spend time on the ground and in the air reporting on U.S. forces. It's the first time TV's top-rated morning news show has originated a broadcast from the country, the AP reported.

NBC will broadcast from the capital city of Kabul.
