Tom Green is well known for his gross-out comedy in both film and television, but few are aware of Green’s hip-hop past. Long before “The Tom Green Show” or “Freddy Got Fingered”, Green was a front man in the Ottawa, Ontario based group Organized Rhyme. The group earned legitimate notoriety in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s with a humorous style pre-dating Eminem. In 1992, Organized Rhyme released their only album, “Huh? Stiffenin Against the Wall” and went on to record two videos. “Check the O.R.”, the group’s first single, received critical acclaim, receiving a nomination for a Juno (the Canadian equivalent to a Grammy) alongside the seasoned Maestro (Fresh-Wes) and the Ragga Muffin Rascals (now, Rascalz) for their first single. They did not win either award and split up shortly thereafter due to “creative differences.” Green’s love for hip-hop continues. He has used his fame from his self-titled MTV show and various film appearances to release an album under his alter ego MC Face. Unfortunately for Green, it’s likely that his reputation for crude comedy will keep him from being taken very seriously in the hip-hop industry.
