Mara Schiavocampo speaks during the Leading Women Defined: Girl’s Night Out at Ritz Carlton Hotel on March 1, 2013 in Washington, DC. (February 28, 2013)
*Mara Schiavocampo is moving from NBC to ABC.
The veteran reporter, who spent six years at NBC before signing off in December will join ABC News as a New York-based correspondent.
“Mara is a dynamic storyteller and skilled journalist who has covered nearly every major news story in the past decade,” ABC News president Ben Sherwood wrote in a note to ABC News staff this morning.
It is a return to ABC News for Schiavocampo, who previously worked as a desk assistant for radio and a producer for “ABC News Now.”
*Robin Roberts just signed a new deal with ABC News to keep her the co-anchor of “Good Morning America.”
TVNewser reported earlier this month that Roberts was close to signing a deal with the network. The veteran journalist joined the show in 1995 as a feature reporter while also working for ESPN. She later became “GMA’s” newsreader and in 2005 was named co-anchor, alongside Diane Sawyer.
Hoda Kotb attends Glamour’s 23rd annual Women of the Year awards on November 11, 2013 in New York City
*There was a report Tuesday that “Today” show co-host Hoda Kotb “had rejected a compelling deal” to join ABC’s “The View,” opting to stay with the NBC morning show’s fourth hour.
Well, this was news to “View” producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie.
“Bill and I have never called her. We have never met her. We have never offered her a compelling deal,” Walters said on the show this morning, refuting the story posted by Capital New York.
“I like her a lot,” Walters continued, before gesturing to her co-hosts and saying, “We are not offering any of you a compelling deal either.”
Capital New York reported that ABC News hoped to put her on ‘The View,’ and also make her an intricate part of the network, but that sources confirmed she was happiest at NBC News, where she’s been since her “Dateline” debut in 1998.
Walters couldn’t even pronounce Hoda’s last name correctly while denying the report this morning. New co-host Jenny McCarthy said Kotb wouldn’t like hosting “The View” anyway, because “we only have water in our cups.” (Kotb and her “Today” co-host Kathie Lee Gifford are famous for sipping wine during their broadcasts.)
