Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis in “Annie”
*The first trailer has been released for the upcoming “Annie” remake, with Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis in the title role. Also, the first clip has surfaced from the Jimi Hendrix film “All Is By My Side” starring Outkast’s Andre 3000.
Like the classic 1977 musical, Columbia’s modern-day “Annie” update follows 11-year-old little orphan Annie (“Beasts of the Southern Wild’s” Wallis), who has a chance encounter with wealthy businessman Benjamin Stacks (Jamie Foxx), an update on the Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks character.
Turns out Benjamin, who’s running for mayor, needs a feel-good story to boost his stock; that’s where Annie comes in. Meanwhile, Cameron Diaz takes on the mean-spirited orphanage owner Miss Hannigan. Rose Byrne and Bobby Canavale co-star.
*Less than a year after losing his mother, Andre 3000 of the rap group Outkast is mourning the passing of his father.
A spokesperson for the duo confirmed that the rapper’s father, Lawrence Walker, died Thursday morning from a heart attack. According to reports, he was chopping wood for his fireplace outside of his Atlanta home when he was stricken.
Andre 3000’s mother, Sharon Benjamin-Hodo, died in May 2013 at her home in Clayton County.
*Sources tell Billboard that Andre 3000 and Big Boi are in talks to end their hiatus next year and reunite for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Outkast has long been the subject of reunion rumors ever since Andre “Andre 3000″ Benjamin and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton put their Grammy-winning duo on hiatus in 2007.
Multiple sources tell Billboard that under the current plan, Coachella, which kicks off on Apr. 11, 2014 in Indio, Calif., would be the start of their reunion run and would be followed by additional festival dates in 2014.
One source tells Billboard that there have definitely been “some conversations” about Outkast reuniting, while another says it is “all systems go” for Big Boi and Andre 3000 to end their hiatus next year.
*Not that women would mind seeing some photos of Outkast member Andre 3000 nekked.
But no, that won’t be the case because a fake azz “news site” sought out 15-minutes of fame by creating the rumor that Big Boi has pics of Andre 3000 stored in his phone.
We won’t even mention the fake news sites name/URL (sticking our tongue out in a “Na na nana na” kind of way); but suffice it to say the news set the Internet ablaze and some reporters, how shall do we say this, were not so good at checking their facts before dropping a dime on the “news.”
Whew! Glad EURweb dodged that bullet!
Here is what the fake azz news site published:
“So you mean to tell me he’s gay AND has a tiny–weird p-nis. I’ma need him to pick a struggle” – Sherlita’s Sister
Sherlita who is a big hip hop fan herself also feels for the fans who want more music saying “you might see an Outkast p*rno before you’ll see another album”
The fake news item got a lot of traction around the InterWebs at some respectable locations with folks chiming in passionately in the comments sections. Some of the outlets have since deleted their posts containing the story.
Meanwhile in other news, Outkast fans recently learned that Big Boi and his wife Sherlita Patton are divorcing. Unfortunately, this appears to be true
*According to his longtime friend and fellow recording artist Cee Lo Green, Andre 3000 isn’t recording any new music due to case of “severe” stage fright.
We’ve heard talk of a new album for years now but no word from the from Andre Three Stacks as to what the hold up is. Well, on Wednesday, Green talked about his friend’s phobia with MTV’s “RapFix Live.”
“He just said he had a severe case of stage fright and just kind of been away from the game and didn’t know if he could truly live up…” he said, before pulling back. “I just feel like I’m talking too much personal stuff. I hope he don’t mind.”
Dre has been keeping a low profile, which had only added to the anticipation. His public appearances are rare but he did attend Lil Wayne’s show last week.
Word was the he told BET executive Steven Hill that he would be dropping an album at the “top of year.” But one of Andre’s reps denied the rumor and said there was “no official confirmation” of an upcoming album.
Andre 3k expressed being “bothered” by the bar that’s been set for his music, and wanting to “do something different.”
“He’ll always be his worse competition,” Green added. “His worst critic, and maybe he don’t want to live up to what people think he should do. He’s always been exceptional and ahead of his time anyway, so anything he decides to do — next year or the year after that — we’ll still be catching with what’s on his mind.”
Goodie Mob member Big Gipp also chimed in, reminding fans not to be fooled by the spokesperson’s denial. “One thing that we know about 3000, whenever somebody [sees] him doing something and they run and tell the press, he’ll always say he ain’t doing it. He’s always looking for the surprise.”
