*The freshest face of BET’s 106 & Park, Angela Simmons, continues to use her star power to give back.
This week, Rev. Run’s 27-year-old daughter hosted a ‘Girl Talk Take Over‘ event for some promising young girls at Newark’s Boys & Girls Club. Bringing together fashion, health and fitness, Angela brought out her BET co-host, Bow Wow, along with her brother Diggy Simmons, to perform. The girls also received a few take-home gifts compliments of their sponsors. After the event ended, Angela beamed on twitter:
This is my passion ! These girls made me so happy! I put my all into them today! Over these last months my partner Kerri and I put so much work in. I do it for them. Bringing health , fitness , fashion, sex Ed , community activities , performing arts , yoga , glass roots art, self expression , nails , hair , what girls want and need! #girltalktakeover !! Last week, the daughter of famous old school rapper, Rev. Run, was caught co-hosting with her ex-boyfriend Bow Wow on BET’s 106 & Park. And this week, she was spotted luxuriating in Anguilla. In addition to beachin’, she also spent some time at a local school.
*Over the weekend, Russell Simmons, along with his bother, Danny Simmons, hosted the 13th Annual ART FOR LIFE East Hampton Benefit.
This year’s event honored recording artists Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Betsy Z. Cohen (Bancorp Inc.), Tamia and Grant Hill (The Grant Hill Foundation), and Marc J. Leder (Sun Capital Partners Inc.).
CNN’s Soledad O’Brien hosted the evening, while Star Jones was on the mic MC’ing the Rush Kids Auction. Musical performances included Anita Baker, Salt-N-Pepa, Melanie Fiona and Diggy Simmons.
We spotted everybody and their play cousin, including: Kimora Lee Simmons, Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons, Justine Simmons, Angela Simmons, Vanessa Williams, June Ambrose, Star Jones, Salt N Pepa, Rocsi Diaz, Babyface, LA Reid, Tika Sumpter and some other fancy folk.
* Over the weekend, photogs caught up with Angela Simmons enjoying the warm water and sun on Miami’s South Beach. Wearing a body chain, Simmons rocked a gold bikini, trimmed in light pink. She paired it with a bright orange head scarf.
*Being naked is becoming more of trend among celebrities.
PETA has recruited Angela Simmons to strip down to her birthday suit to promote vegetarianism.
Simmons is a vegan and says:
“I wanted to bring attention to a vegan lifestyle and raise awareness for PETA. I feel it’s very important to show compassion for all of God’s creations — and adopting a vegan diet for me is the best way to live a healthier lifestyle and keep innocent animals from suffering.”
Last night at the Paramount Hotel in New York City, Simmons unveiled her nude PETA ad that read, “Eating Meat Is a Sin: Go Vegetarian.”

*Celebrities such as Letoya Luckett (pictured above) gathered on Saturday, August 7, for the 8th Annual Duffy’s Hope Youth Summit & Celebrity Softball Game held at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Delaware. This event is held every year, for the past ten consecutive years, to promote peace and non-violence. Duffy Youth Inc. dedicates itself to working with at-risk youth in Wilmington, Delaware.
This event usually draws over 2000 supporters from the Philadelphia/Delaware community.
Past celebrity guests include actors Raven Symone and Lance Gross, singing groups Bad Gyrl and B5, boxer Zab Judah, and Willie Green and Marc Jackson of the NBA 76er’s.

*The Style Network has acquired the rerun rights to the MTV reality series “Run’s House,” which follows the family of former Run-DMC rapper Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons.
The deal gives Style access to episodes from all seasons of the series and includes the spinoff “Daddy’s Girls,” starring Run’s eldest daughters Vanessa and Angela as they launch a business in Los Angeles.
“Run’s House” premieres on Style at 11 p.m. tonight (June 30) with the 2009 “Hawaiian Vacation episode that opened season 6. After its debut, episodes will air Sundays at 9 p.m., and a “Run’s House” marathon is scheduled for Saturday July 3 at 5 p.m.
