*Michael Vick may not ever live down his animal cruelty past because every time he says something about a dog, some animal rights association comes barking.
The football star was a guest on CNN with Piers Morgan. He told the host he hopes to get a puppy for his kids. But the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals quickly raised a red flag and blasted Vick for not caring about animals.

“Vick’s journey toward rehabilitation and redemption has not reflected any direct concern for the well-being of animals, and we’ve never heard him express a shred of empathy toward the dogs he brutalized and killed,” the organization told TMZ.
The group accuses Vick of evading responsibility in the matter and failing to realize the “horrors and brutalities of dog fighting.”
“Vick’s actions have been simply self-serving and not remotely expressing remorse. Because of this, the ASPCA has serious concerns about Vick’s ability to be a responsible pet guardian.”
Vick spent 19 months in prison at the height of his career for illegal dog fighting.
*PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is calling for a more animal-friendly update to the Bible.
The group is asking translators of the New International Version (NIV) to remove what it calls “speciesist” language and refer to animals as “he” or “she” instead of “it.”
The NIV is a popular translation of the Christian Bible. An updated translation was released this month. The translators said 95% of the 1984 translation remains the same. But the committee of scholars made a move to be more gender-inclusive in their translation into English from the original Hebrew and Greek texts.

*Who cancels on Oprah? Well, Kanye West for one. And now Michael Vick, too. He was supposed to tape an interview with the media mogul that would run next Thursday, but he called the whole thing off.
“After careful consideration, I will need to postpone the taping of the Oprah Winfrey interview,” Vick said in a statement. “I admire and respect Oprah and hope to be able to participate in an interview in the future.”
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback said he would participate in the future. But maybe there just won’t be a future with Oprah, especially since she’s decided to end her show and focus on her network.
Hmm, what’s really going on?
Might it have something to do with him just being declared the Eagles franchise player and in line for a really big payday and not wanting jeopardize the deal with an appearance on her show which might not go well. After all, it would be expected of her to go in on him because of his dog fighting/killing past and his subsequent jail term.
Yes, you are more than welcome to chime in.
*Are we serious here. With all the problems in the world, bombs over head, and starving human beings, the animal rights organization PETA is still duking it out with singer Kelis.
That fur-wearing, animal flesh eating woman has been on the bad side of the organization for some time now.
In January, the singer proclaimed her devout dedication to wearing fur and PETA hasn’t stopped criticizing her since. Kelis is tired of it.
“I’ve always worn fur,” she told blogger Perez Hilton, “I’ve never had an issue with it. PETA mentioned a few things, I ignored it. They sent me a nasty letter, I’m like, what, are you serious? Leave me alone basically.”
She’s thrown some harsh words at the org and animals all over, but continues to stand by her word in saying everyone has the right to make their own decisions as long as they’re legal.
“I’m like the biggest carnivore,” she said. “I eat a plate of meat. I don’t need anything else. I enjoy it that much. I believe in live and let live.”
