“You make investments in these artists, these talents,” the entertainer told “Extra.” “And there’s something that can happen that’s positive… I’m excited about the potential of what’s going on to happen, the new ideas that’ll just kind of come up. I’m shocking myself a lot of time cause I don’t know what I’m doing when I’m in there. I just kinda go with what I feel.”
*In a new promo released for Season 5 of “The Voice,” judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are out fishing – expressing how much they miss former judges Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo Green, who were temporarily replaced last season by Shakira and Usher.
Levine and Shelton break out into a wistful rendition of Peaches and Herb’s “Reunited” when suddenly, Aguilera emerges from the woods in a red gown and begins to croon as she walks on water toward her fellow coaches.
Then Cee-Lo Green enters the picture in a way you have to see to believe.

*Usher sparked controversy for choosing four of his own songs to play as he curated the Macy’s 4th of July Firework display on Thursday.
He chose to play his songs “Euphoria,” “Yeah!,” “OMG” and David Guetta’s “Without You” which he is featured on. He also picked songs by Rihanna, Jay-Z, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, Kanye West, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Sinatra.
Viewers took to Twitter to ponder if Usher was promoting himself more than celebrating the Fourth of July.
The New York Daily News notes one user wrote: “How much $ did usher pay to get every song he ever recorded played in the NYCity firework mix tape #notmad #justcurious.”
Another wrote “By the way…we’re all those Usher songs appropriate for the Macy’s July 4th Extravaganza from New York City? Maybe one song, not five!”
Before the event, he told the Daily News, “Me curating, it’s far more than me just showing up and allowing my name to be on a bill. I wanted to represent America. I wanted people to understand something more about me artistically.”
*Usher and Darius Rucker have joined the lineup of performers for the Oklahoma relief concert organized and headlined by country star Blake Shelton.
The May 29 event, titled Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert, will raise oney for the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund. NBC is set to air a live broadcast of the concert at 9 p.m. ET/PT; it also will air cable networks Style, G4, Bravo, E! and CMT on either a live or delayed basis.
Usher and Rucker join a lineup that also includes Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Reba McEntire and Vince Gill.
Tickets for the Heartland concert, which will take place at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, went on sale Saturday morning and sold out in less than five minutes, according to NBC.
United Way of Central Oklahoma plans to use the money raised for immediate, intermediate and long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts in Oklahoma following the tornadoes that devastated the town of Moore last week.
Usher currently is a coach alongside Shelton on NBC’s singing competition “The Voice.” The eight-time Grammy winner has sold more than 44 million albums worldwide and racked up nine No. 1 hits on the Hot 100.
Rucker, the Hootie and the Blowfish frontman-turned-country singer, released his third country album, “True Believers,” in May. Single “Wagon Wheels” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Chart.
*It was “The Voice” host Carson Daly who first put a bug in Usher’s ear about occupying one of the red chairs.
“I had conversations with him on his radio show and he really spoke very highly of it,” said Usher during a press conference for the show held Monday (April 22) in Los Angeles. “I said, ‘Okay, well let me see.’ And I investigated it, and before I knew it I was 100 percent signed up.”
With ratings up this season like Ursh’s one leg, it appears as if viewers approve of his and Shakira’s replacement of former mentor/judges Cee Lo Green and Cristina Aguilera.
“I was very proud of what I saw before, but what I brought was I guess years of experience and an opinion based off of not only my own career but also being able to mentor other artists,” said Usher.
Fellow host Adam Levine says Usher, 34, is perhaps the most deserving of a mentor/judge slot because of two words: Justin Bieber.
“[Usher] really did do the real life version of what we do on the show, which is that you mentored the career of someone who became extremely successful,” said Levine. “And that’s probably worth its weight in gold, coming into this process because none of us had done that.”
Below, Usher, a one-time contestant on “Star Search,” says he also brings to the table the perspective of someone who’s been through the rigors of a similar talent show.
*Season 3 of “The Voice” is barely two weeks old and already the producers are preparing for season four.
Current coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will take a hiatus next season to work on other projects, and NBC announced today that the pair will be replaced by Usher and Shakira, who will join returning judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
Aguilera will spend next season touring to promote her new album, “Lotus,” while Cee Lo will work on new music and a scripted comedy about his life. Both vow to return to the show eventually. “By pursuing my first passion of music during the break, I am also able to come back and offer even more to my team on The Voice in the future,” Aguilera said in a statement.
“I will return for season five and will be watching season four,” said Green.
“We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice,” Robert Greenblatt, the chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in statement. “Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and Cee Lo.”
