*Even though Heavy D was working on a huge comeback before he passed away last year, some of the profits might have gone straight to the state of California. That’s because the rapper/actor had a pretty sizable tax debt, reports TMZ.
According to documents filed last month by the Franchise Tax Board in California, Heavy D (real name Dwight E. Myers) has a tax lien against him in the amount of $43,967.87. The lien applies to the years 2008 and 2009.
Heavy D, 44, passed away last November after suffering a pulmonary embolism outside his Beverly Hills home.
*Despite what state tax records say, Dennis Rodman says he don’t owe a dime.
It was recently revealed that the former NBA bad boy on the court (and especially off) owed the state of California more than $42,000 and was issued a lien.
“It’s got to be incorrect,” said Rodman business manager Peggy King. She said Rodman recently received a refund check from the state “for $42,000 or $43,000.”
If his accountant is right, he will be wiped away from the long list of celebrities who are currently dealing with money issues on the state and federal levels: Wesley Snipes, Redd Foxx, Ron Isley and a long list of rappers including Nas who owes $6.46 million in back taxes. OUCH!
