Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis in “Annie”
*The first trailer has been released for the upcoming “Annie” remake, with Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis in the title role. Also, the first clip has surfaced from the Jimi Hendrix film “All Is By My Side” starring Outkast’s Andre 3000.
Like the classic 1977 musical, Columbia’s modern-day “Annie” update follows 11-year-old little orphan Annie (“Beasts of the Southern Wild’s” Wallis), who has a chance encounter with wealthy businessman Benjamin Stacks (Jamie Foxx), an update on the Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks character.
Turns out Benjamin, who’s running for mayor, needs a feel-good story to boost his stock; that’s where Annie comes in. Meanwhile, Cameron Diaz takes on the mean-spirited orphanage owner Miss Hannigan. Rose Byrne and Bobby Canavale co-star.
*OK, I’m going to say this straight out, this is not for the prudish.
And if you think its TMI (Too much information), well, just blame it on Cameron Diaz!
I thought it was interesting that Cameron, an actress I have always loved would now write a Body Book (That’s the actual title), and dedicate an entire chapter on how a woman cares for her pubic hair.
But she did and brings up a pretty good point.

*Ever since Nicki Minaj came to prominence, she’s been telling everyone how much she wants a career as an actress.
OK, nothing wrong or unusual about that. Pretty much every rapper, singer or athlete dreams of being a thespian. Just ask Diddy or even Miss Minaj. But can Nicki act? That’s the central question.
Well, you’re about to find out in Spring, 2014 because that’s when she’ll make her big screen debut in Nick Cassavetes’ revenge comedy “The Other Woman” starring Cameron Diaz.
Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis on the “Annie” set in New York City on December 5, 2013
*TMZ got hold of Quvenzhane Wallis’ contract for the “Annie” remake.
The 10-year-old Best Actress Oscar nominee for “Beasts of the Southern Wild” will earn a base salary of $750,000 for starring as the famous orphan … and that’s just for starters.
The numbers, according to TMZ:
Cameron Diaz in “The Counselor”
*Cameron Diaz had to dub her lines in the Ridley Scott film “The Counselor” after shooting wrapped because Fox executives felt her Barbadian character’s accent sounded too much like Rihanna’s.
The revelation comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which also notes that the actress was less than pleased with the studio’s demand. Either way, it didn’t help much. Even post-dub, the Village Voice’s Sam Weisberg says Diaz “trips over her character’s Barbadian accent,” while the Chicago Tribune’s Michael Phillips calls her delivery “leaden.”
(To her credit, not all critics were Diaz haters. Variety’s Peter Debruge said she’s “by far the most committed” in the movie, and the New York Times’ Manohla Dargis labels the performance “scary and freaky” — presumably a compliment for a femme fatale character like Diaz’s Malkina.)
The Cormac McCarthy-penned script notes that Malkina is Argentinian, yet the movie changed her roots to Barbados.
Actor Bobby Cannavale arrives at the premiere of ‘Blue Jasmine’ hosted by AFI & Sony Picture Classics at AMPAS Samuel Goldwyn Theater on July 24, 2013 in Beverly Hills, California
*Bobby Cannavale is the latest cast addition to Sony Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment’s urban remake of “Annie.”
The actor, coming off an Emmy-nominated performance on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” will play a bulldog political adviser to Jamie Foxx’s Benjamin Stacks character as he makes a mayoral run in New York.
Cannavale joins Quvenzhane Wallis, Cameron Diaz and Rose Byrne in the Will Gluck-directed film.
The film is set for release Christmas Day 2014.
Cannavale is currently starring in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine.”
