*In the story that won’t die, the saga of Beyonce’s baby bump continues on – with the latest controversy coming just days after her bump appeared to have jostled out of place during an interview.
Earlier this month, the mom-to-be released her music video for “Countdown,” in which viewers can see her protruding belly. But Beyoncé’s video for “Love on Top” hit the web on Sunday…with no visible baby bump to speak of. [Scroll down to watch.]
Despite the possibility of Bey having shot the video before she was showing, the clip (a tip-of-the-hat to New Edition’s “If It Isn’t Love” video) has blogs buzzing again about possible fake pregnancies and/or secret surrogates.
Beyoncé first performed “Love on Top” at the Video Music Awards in August, when she announced – by showing off her bump, of course – that she and husband Jay-Z are expecting a baby.
Paps caught the singer and her baby bump out and about in New York City on Friday. She was sporting a zip-up navy and black dress and looking like a proud and glowing mom-to-be.
*Uh oh, has Beyonce been busted again? Ok, maybe we should ask is she being accused of artistic thievery again? The answer is yes.
That’s because a Belgian choreographer is calling out Bey for stealing her signature dance moves in the new “Countdown” video.
Interestingly, and out of nowhere, a video surfaced accusing Mrs. Sean Carter of ripping off Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
De Keersmaeker checked out Bey’s video and didn’t waste any time speaking out. The words coming out of her mouth were: “rude” and “plagiarism.”
Further, here’s what she to told a Danish blog:
“I didn’t know anything about this. I’m not mad, but this is plagiarism.”
She also made it clear that she isn’t down with statements saying she should be “honored” to have Beyonce emulating her moves and added that she’s seen school children do a “more beautiful” rendition.
“What’s rude is that they don’t even bother about hiding it. They seem to think they could do it because it’s a famous work … Am I honoured? Look I’ve seen local school kids doing this. That’s a lot more beautiful,” De Keersmaeker said.
Ouch. Anyway, as we hinted at the top, this is the second time … this year that Beyonce’s been accused of copying other people.
*Beyonce is not letting a little pregnancy stop her from getting her customary groove on.
After releasing a teaser clip of her new video “Countdown” this week, the full version premiered Thursday night and has gotten a lot of good reviews, at least among those in the blogosphere and twitterverse.
MTV hit the streets for reaction and “the overall consensus was positive,” the site reported. Many people commented on the simplicity of the clip, and of course, her bumpin’ belly.
“I thought maybe having a baby bump would stop her from doing a lot of dance moves, but she was still moving around [and] still looking good,” said fan Justin Abello.
“I thought it was beautiful,” Amethyst Franklin said, referring to B’s pregnant belly. “I think it’s great that she’s showing it off. I think she should be super-proud of it and she is, and that’s awesome.”
*A 30-second snippet from Beyonce’s video for her new single “Countdown” has hit the Internet.
The clip features an extreme close-up of Bey hamming it up before the camera pulls out to reveal a look that recalls both Michael Jackson and Audrey Hepburn – complete with short bangs, cropped pants, black turtleneck and exposed socks. She stands in front of a black-and-white striped wall as she moves her arms like a clock.
Right before the sample of Boyz II Men’s countdown begins, Beyoncé curls her lips for the lines, “If you leave me, you out of your mind.”
The singer then shimmies around in a black-and-white color-block outfit with vibrant eye makeup. As the tease closes, Beyoncé shows off her pregnant profile and then appears in three different bodysuits accessorized with a black-and-white hat. [Scroll down to watch.]
When MTV News caught up with Boyz II Men last week, they gave Bey props for sampling their “Uhh Ahh” in the single.
“I thought it was very clever,” Wanya Morris told MTV News. “She’s a clever artist. She’s one of the best in the business right now. I guess you can say we finally got our duet with Beyoncé.”
The video will debut in its entirety on Thursday. In the meantime, watch the sneak peek below.
*The host of MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann isn’t filing for unemployment just yet. It appears that the network was forced to bend before Olbermann would on a suspension that EVERYONE felt was unjust and ridiculous.
Right after he was suspended for giving donations to three different democrats’ campaigns many of his fellow network hosts, including his buddy Rachel Maddow, and more than 250,000 fans rallied together by petition and outspoken reports to keep him on the air. (more…)
