Back in January Chris and Frank went at it outside a recording studio. The building was damaged and Sha’Keir Duarte — Frank’s cousin — claimed he was kicked and beaten by one of Brown’s bodyguards. Duarte sued Chris in August for his injuries.
Now, according to TMZ, Chris Brown is claiming Duarte provoked the fight by threatening to kill him. In the countersuit Chris claims Duarte kicked and punched him.
It’s a little hard to believe, but Brown, of all people, given his rep for violence, swears he attempted to avoid the confrontation “with the aggressive and hostile Mr. Duarte.”
Breezy says it’s all about a shakedown for $$$, saying Duarte’s demand for $2 million is crazy.
J.Lo’s case is a countersuit to a claim filed by Hakob Manoukian, who alleged he was forced to resign after being publicly berated by her manager, Benny Medina.
In her countersuit, obtained by TMZ, Jennifer alleges Hakob became drunk with power and wanted to control her entire security team and get more money for doing it. When he was turned down, Jennifer claimed he retaliated by threatening to spill confidential information that would be highly embarrassing.
Jennifer says the driver threatened that if he wasn’t paid $2.8 million he would take his information to authorities and have her criminally prosecuted.
She is suing for damages in excess of $20 million.
*Lindsay Lohan is being countersued by rapper Pitbull, in response to a defamation lawsuit she’d already filed against him.
Entertainment Weekly reports that in August the actress and model filed her case against the rap star, claiming that a line in his song “Give Me Everything,” which hit No. 1 on Billboard, had insulted her character. (The lyrics: “I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”)
Even though the actress had indeed been in prison by that point, her lawsuit still claimed that “the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff.”
Pitbull has now responded with his own case, claiming he had cause to write the lyric because she was locked up several times, including a recent 30-day sentence that lasted just four hours before she was released due to overcrowding.
Pitbull is also seeking to find out whether LiLo was legally able to file her lawsuit in New York when’s she’s currently living in California.
