*Beyonce Knowles’s daughter Blue Ivy and her 8-year-old nephew Julez are more like than cousins, according to the boy’s mom Solange.
Bey’s 11-month-old girl spends lots of time with her elder cousin, the son of Solange and her ex-husband Daniel Smith – and have already developed a close bond.
”Blue comes over, I babysit,” Solange told New York Magazine. “Beyonce takes Julez sometimes for the weekend. Blue and Julez are going to grow up more like sister and brother than cousins.”
And it seems spending time with Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z is having an effect on Julez as he is showing signs of being an aspiring rapper.
”He loves it. It’s so scary,” said Solange.
Solange, 26, said she became closer to Beyonce, 31, following the breakdown of her marriage to Daniel Smith. The two exchanged vows at age 17 and Solange moved away from her family to live with him in Idaho. They separated when she was 21 years old.
”It was a time when you really, really need your sister” she said. “Every time there was drama and I was all the way in Idaho, it was nice to be able to call. Now it’s kind of a reversal, with her getting married and having a baby after me.”
*There has always been a certain protocol set before leaving the house with grandma and/or mama when going to church.

”Don’t scuff those shoes kickin’ on the back of the pew!” “Don’t embarrass me makin’ all that noise and squirmin’ around during service!” ”If you have to go to the bathroom, you better do it now!” “And so help me Lord, if you say one thing about Sister Betty’s wig, I’m gonna knock you into the middle of next week!”
Well, the threats before leaving the house normally work, but obviously not for all children.
One pastor in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, was told by one of his parishioners, a mother of two little boys 9 and 10, that they were acting up during Sunday service.
Well, the pastor said I will take them into my counsel. (more…)
*Although she’s been a parent to son Julez for seven years, singer Solange says she’s keeping her mouth shut when it comes to giving parental advice to her big sister Beyonce.
“I really feel like because I had my son so young, I didn’t want everyone’s help. I think people felt entitled to give advice, so I’m always very sensitive to moms and letting them feel their way out,” she told ES magazine. “But there have been times when she’ll ask, ‘Did Julez do this? Did this ever happen with Julez?’ And I’ll gladly give her advice. I’m in a really good place, and I think things are evolving because of that.”
Solange, who is now separated from Julez’s dad, Daniel Smith, says she loves visiting her niece Blue Ivy and likes to spend as much time possible with Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z.
”Actually, I invited them over for dinner tonight,” she said. “I’m excited to see her; I haven’t seen her in a week and half. You know, my sister and I truly are best friends.”
