*You have to admit, Kelly Rowland is doing her thing.
She’s made life after Destiny’s Child work for her somehow and is currently in beast mode.
She recently told Radio.com that she’s got some powerful collaborations in mind, including something with Nas.
“I have something I want [Nas] to be on right now,” she told Radio.com in a recent interview. “I just have to ask him.”
She added that it was Mariah Carey who inspired the idea.
“[I heard] an incredible collaboration [he did] with Joe and Mariah and it felt good.”
The song Rowland referenced, “Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Forever),” is a remix from Mariah’s 1999 album Rainbow, in which she updated Keith Sweat’s “Make It Last Forever” with a rap verse from Nas and vocals from Joe.
“I have a record and I kinda wanna do that, too,” said Rowland. “Taking a page from Mariah’s book, respecting her. I would love to collaborate with Nas and Joe on a song that I have.”
Kelly’s had a long time connection with Nas, she admitted. From the time she heard his debut album, “Illmatic,” she was stuck.
“I remember the first time I picked up Illmatic,” she told Radio.com. “I was blown away by that album…From the first time I picked up Illmatic and I heard [sings the chorus from "The World Is Yours"]…I loved him since then.”
Kelly’s been on a role with rap collaborations. Late last year she worked a few songs with Big Boi, Ludacris and Future.
Go ‘head girl with your bad self.
