*A French court has sided with five Michael Jackson fans who claimed they endured “emotional damage” after the artist’s untimely death. And they’ve been awarded a whopping sum of €1 ($1.36) for their troubles.
The AFP news agency reports that 34 fans had sued Conrad Murray, Jackson’s doctor, claiming they had emotional suffering after their hero’s accidental drug overdose in June 2009.
Murray was jailed in 2011 for the involuntary manslaughter of the pop star and served two years of a four-year term for administering to Jackson a fatal dose of Propofol, an anesthetic drug.
The claimants — two from France, two from Switzerland and one from Belgium — were members of the Michael Jackson Community fan club in France. Their lawyer Emmanuel Ludot said they’d proven their suffering “with the help of witness statements and medical certificates.” And the court in Orleans agreed.
*The United States is not the only place on the planet erupting with racist warfare. Other countries have had enough and are fighting back as well.
France’s Union of Jewish Students (UEJF) alerted Twitter to racist messages that were Tweeted through their service and asked that they be removed.
The social media giant acquiesced to their requests and thought that the matter had been tactfully resolved, but when the UEJF and four other anti-racist groups asked for identifiable details of those sending the racist messages, Twitter declined.
The organizations then took Twitter to court in March and sued them for $50 million for their refusal. The lawsuit helped Twitter’s little blue bird sing like a canary and give up the identities.
Halle Berry arrives at the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ show in Hollywood, California on March 20, 2013
*It’s gonna be a while before Halle Berry makes that move to France.
The actress has been anxious to start a new life in Europe with her fiancé Olivier Martinez, but her ex, Gabriel Aubry, has bitterly contested her plans to take their five-year-old daughter Nahla with them.
Berry now says she will hold off on the move until her daughter is old enough to decide on her own where she wants to live.
”It probably won’t be until my daughter is 18 and off to college,” she told Hello! magazine. “When Nahla turns 18, she’ll be legally able to make her own decisions about where she wants to be and I think that then, when she’s off on her own, we’ll move there. It’s where I want to end my days, that’s for sure.”
Halle says her beau thinks she should hold off on trying to learn his language.
”I was told very lovingly by him not to work on it too hard now but to wait until we get to live there,” she said. “Because for me, at my age and with all that I already have on my plate, trying to learn French is probably one of the hardest things I could possibly do.
”He thinks I’ll have an easier time when we’re living there and immersed in the culture – if we ever get to go that is.”

*Looks like Halle Berry is planning to marry her fiancé Olivier Martinez in his native Paris.
The couple spent Christmas in Europe over the holidays and paps caught the actress visiting potential wedding venues, including the historic sixth century Saint-Germain-des-Pres abbey and the Saint-Sulpice cathedral, according to Us Weekly magazine.
A source tells the publication, “Halle was stunned by their beauty. This wedding will be a dream come true!”
The insider adds, “Halle wants to marry Olivier in Paris. She knows how special it will be for him to celebrate at home.”
Berry, who has been married twice before, has been dating the actor since 2010. They became engaged last year.
She recently had a legal request to relocate from Los Angeles to Paris with her young daughter Nahla denied by a judge in her ongoing custody battle with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
