Well, this is the case for LeBron James. He was raised by a single mother.
His father wasn’t in the picture. And James wrote an open letter to his father about it.
*Well, if you close one eye and quint out the other, we suppose there could be a slight resemblance.
A man claiming to be Miami Heat superstar LeBron James‘ dad will not go away; and no one seems to know why.
Stovell has filed two lawsuits trying to show the world that he is the NBA champs long-lost dad, but his second action was dismissed in September, and now he is filing an appeal with a federal court. This according to Jose Lambiet’s Gossip Extra.
He is tight-lipped on what it is he wants exactly.
“Dad” first filed in 2010, but his case was dismissed when his DNA test came back negative (he blamed this on tampering by LeBron and his mom). But he filed again earlier this year, with claims that LeBron disparaged and slandered him in a Sports Illustrated article when he talked about growing up without a dad.
Stovell was shot down again, and has now filed an appeal.
However he couldn’t be contacted at press time, and the office phone number listed for him with the D.C. Bar Association is not in service.
Is it any wonder why he won’t go away?

*There’s no point in being rich or being the mother of someone rich and famous … if you can’t use it as leverage to get your butt out of trouble.
But then there’s abusing the power and overdoing it over and over, so to speak.
So says attorney Robert Stok in a bitter letter to Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle‘s office listing instances in which Gloria James hasn’t been getting the same treatment as regular Janes!
Stok represents Rock Feller Sorel, the Fontainebleau Miami Beach valet who was allegedly slapped by a drunk Gloria James last year in an argument over the speed of Sorel’s service.
Sorel is suing for damages, but what ticks off Stok is what he claims is the kid-glove treatment.
For example, 44-year-old Gloria, Stok says, should have rotted in the slammer for a while after she was arrested and charged with battery and disorderly intoxication.
Instead, she was released to a Miami Heat executive after being issued a court appearance ticket.
“Enough is enough,” Stok wrote. He declined to comment on the letter exclusively obtained by Gossip Extra.
Here’s an excerpt of Stok’s missive (click here for the full letter):
“Since Ms. James’ arrest on April 7, 2011 she has abused her quasi-celebrity status and flouted the justice system.
As detailed in her arrest report, at the time she was arrested, she refused to cooperate with the arresting police officers.
Despite the fact that she was arrested for disorderly intoxication, an arrest typically requiring overnight incarceration, she was released from the booking station almost immediately to a Miami Heat executive.

She was offered her initial pre-trial diversion program without your office having consulted with our client first and ultimately the offer was made against his wishes.
In the civil case, she missed two court ordered mediations and was sanctioned by the trial court for her continuing misconduct.”
Stok also takes a swipe at the pre-trial diversion program offered by the State Attorney’s office to Gloria James earlier this year in which she completed community service instead of jail in the valet-slapping incident.
Stok writes the woman has “a long history of criminal arrests in her home state of Ohio” and should not have been allowed in pre-trail intervention.
When asked in an email if the State Attorney’s office is being overprotective of Gloria James, Spokesman Ed Griffith simply said: “No!

However, she won’t do any time behind bars.
Law enforcement sources tell us … Gloria James struck a plea deal with prosecutors for the incident in which she slapped Rockfeller Sorel after allegedly berating him at the valet stand last April.
Under the terms of the deal, the court has agreed to dismiss the public intoxication charge against Gloria … if she completes 20 hours of community service, stays away from Sorel and donates $1,000 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. FYI — Sorel is Haitian and personally agreed to the deal.
In the video (see below) Gloria was a hot mess … slapping, wildly swinging her purse … and falling on her ass during the late-night altercation.

*A judge has dismissed a lawsuit against LeBron James from the man who claims to be his biological father, reports TMZ.
Leicester Bryce Stovell sued LeBron and his mother Gloria last year claiming they defamed him, blocked him from making money and tampered with paternity test results that showed he was not LeBron’s father.
According to TMZ, a Washington, DC judge has dismissed all eight claims in Stovell’s lawsuit. In the docs, the court said Stovell had insufficient facts to support his claims, and “had not identified any damages.”
As for Stovell’s belief he could have earned big money, the court said, “Apparently Stovell believes that companies are willing to pay him for being the father of LeBron James.” Tthe court once again said Stovell has no proof to back that claim.
Stovell, a lawyer who claims a one-night stand with Gloria led to her pregnancy with LeBron, tells TMZ he still thinks there is “a likelihood” that he is the NBA star’s biological father, and he wants to retake a DNA test.
He also says he might appeal the dismissal.
*On top of Kobe Bryant’s problems from the past couple of days comes news that he is no longer the most popular NBA basketball player, well at least in jersey sales.
LeBron James’ No. 6 Miami Heat jersey is the league’s top seller for 2010-11, which means he knocks Bryant’s down to No. 2. But the drop comes after two years of the Lakers’ star sitting pretty in the top spot. James is number one again for the first time since his rookie year in 2004.
In other news , the attorney for the valet who is suing LeBron’s mom for assault and battery, told TMZ that during the confrontation, Gloria James allegedly said to the valet, “You don’t know who I am, you fu**ing n**ger. Tomorrow, you won’t have a job”
Angela L. Cohn, the attorney for valet Rockfeller Sorel, said Gloria James spewed the hateful remark just as the confrontation became physical. Gloria James was arrested after the incident, and as we reported yesterday, the valet is now suing her.
