Texas Gov. Rick Perry signs abortion law that will likely close most of the abortion clinics in Texas, Thursday, July 18, 2013.
*In late June, we reported on pro-choice hero Wendy Davis when she stood on Texas’ state floor and staged an 11-hour filibuster without breaks to fight against the abortion bill that would close all but five abortion clinics in the state.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry was in total opposition to Davis, so much so, that he re-introduced the bill and had it signed into law Thursday morning.
The earlier version was successfully thwarted by Davis’ filibuster, but sly Perry slid a new and improved version in and both houses of the legislature passed it through last week with a final signature from Perry today.
According to the report from the Huffington Post, he was locked and loaded, prepared for today!
Texas State Senator, Wendy Davis (D), went up against Texas’ governor Rick Perry (R) to kill abortion bill that would close all but five abortion clinics as well as many other restrictions, and won, Wednesday, June 26, 2013.
*Have you ever given a speech? Have you ever given a speech for 11 hours? Yeah, that’s what we thought! Unbelievable, right?
Well, it’s time to stand and applaud the incredible Texas state senator Wendy Davis for her heroic 11-hour filibuster that stopped a bill that would’ve closed all but five of the abortion clinics in Texas, due to the bill’s requirement for all abortion clinics to have ambulatory surgical center licenses.
The Republican bill would also prevent abortions at 20 weeks or more, set restrictions on use of an abortion pill and give no exceptions for women who have psychological conditions or who become pregnant through rape or incest.
But with all that, Texas Governor Rick Perry vowed to bring the bill back…but not before he took a swipe at Davis with her own past teenage pregnancy. Yeah…he went there.
Melinda Brown Duncan lets the city of Detroit’s government have it!
The residents of the city of Detroit has been under fire from every direction of the city’s government.
From the governor’s office to the mayor’s office and city council, the residents have been catching hell!

She admitted that she is not a government official, but she’ll “learn, quick, fast, and in a hurry.” She told Fox 2 News reporter Maurielle Lue, that she could do a much better job than the present mayor of Detroit, Dave Bing.
Chris Christie on the campaign trail for Mitt Romney going in hard on Obama saying the President “doesn’t know anything about leadin’ “, during a rally October 19, 2012.
The election is over. President Obama is still the president and all is right with the world. But in Mitt Romney’s camp, there are still those that won’t let it die. They are living in “shoulda woulda coulda” land.
Governor Chris Christie lives in and governs New Jersey though and he is steaming mad over the Romney aids that are still running their yaps over his refusal to join Mitt Romney at a campaign location in Jersey, according to Huffington Post. Christie told reporters during a press conference Tuesday:
“I told Governor Romney at that time that if the storm landed as predicted that it was going to be catastrophic to New Jersey and unprecedented,” Christie said. “I said to him, ‘Listen, Mitt, if this storm hits the way I think it’s going to, I’m off the campaign trail from here to Election Day.’ And he said to me, ‘Chris, of course. That’s what you have to do. Do your job, don’t worry about me. I’ll take care of things.’ So all this other noise, I think, is coming from know-nothing, disgruntled Romney staffers who
Justice Bernette Johnson will become Louisiana’s first black Supreme Court Chief Justice after Governor Bobby Jindal’s attempt to block her seating is denied in federal court.
*There’s nothing worse than disguised racism that employees have a hard time proving exists.
Sometimes, the more they try to prove their case, the more suspicious they look. Just like in sexual harrassment or rape cases, the victim becomes the accused.
But in the state of Louisiana, fortunately past cases of discrimination in government can be proven and used to help Bernette Johnson in her quest to rise to the Supreme Court Chief Justice position for her state.
But Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, is trying to block her ascension due to a technicality that really doesn’t support his case.
The state constitution states that the next supreme court judge with the most seniority rises to the Chief position after the sitting Chief retires….and that’s Johnson.
*The same ol’ election tricks are springing up again and right on schedule for the racists … oops!
I mean the presidential race. Florida’s GOP is showing its good ol’ boy tactics at the polls as if it were the 1950s.
They’ve even gotten a little bold with the U.S. government. In true child-like behavior, they’ve taken a stance against the government and have told them what they are and are not going to do.
But just like any other child, Florida’s governor Rick Scott, will have to learn the hard way about pulling this kind of stunt.
Governor Scott issued a statement at the beginning of June, stating that he would be purging the voter rolls of all ineligible voters. The only problem with that is they don’t have a credible list of who the ineligible voters are. (more…)
