This one might be the topper – “Nymphomaniac.” The name says it all.
Debuting at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the highly anticipated cinematic spectacle is about a woman’s erotic journey from birth to 50 years old, as told by ‘Joe,’ the main character and self-diagnosed nympho.
The two meet when Joe spots the woman beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to care for her wounds. While recovering, she tells a story of her life. It gets pretty intense and quite overwhelming with images that may fair too much for the faint of heart. And it could border the line of pornography.
While the film is not yet rated, von Trier plans to cut two versions of the film rated R and NC-17.
Now for the controversy. There’s a new photo still out to advertise the new film, featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg, the star, sandwiched between two Black men. What’s that all about? A fetish? A fantasy?
It could be linked to those popular so-called “Mandingo Parties.”
What do you think?
