Nick Cannon attends JAY Z and Samsung Mobile’s celebration of the Magna Carta Holy Grail album on July 3, 2013 in Brooklyn
*Nick Cannon is bringing his “Wild ‘n Out” back into the MTV family.
The producer-actor and host of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” has revived the sketch comedy series that he hosted on MTV from 2005 to 2007, but will air it this time on MTV2…for a reason.
“MTV wanted me to do it on MTV first, but I didn’t want to do it on MTV,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think MTV is different than it was when I was there. They do certain types of shows that are more focused on folks with commentary, [like] ‘16 and Pregnant.’ It is more focused for young women. If we do ‘Wild ‘n Out,’ we have to go raw and go edgier. And that’s what MTV2 is doing.
“We were allowed to push the envelope even more on MTV2. We could go rawer and say stuff without having to worry. On MTV, you kind of have to walk a little softly, with their demographic. I’m excited to go raw and in your face.
The premise of the show stays the same: Cannon leads one team while a special guest steers the rival team in games ranging from freestyle rap battles to pure comedy. “Wild ‘n Out” guests this season include his “Real Husbands of Hollywood” star Kevin Hart, “Guy Code’s” Lil DuVal, NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire and rappers Mac Miller, 2Chainz, Machine Gun Kelly, A$AP Rocky and Joe Budden.
During an interview alongside ”AGT” judges Howard Stern and Howie Mandel, Cannon talks about his own comedy chops, and the first time he realized he was funny.
“Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘n Out” debuts July 9 at 11 p.m. on MTV2. Watch clips below.
*It’s no secret after Tuesday night’s brawl between Joe Budden and Consequence that the two are not very fond of each other.
It was confirmed by VH1 they got into a real fight during the taping of “Love and Hip Hop’s” reunion show.
According to reports, it all started after Consequence struck Budden during a break. Joe says he was hit from behind and his assailant (Con) ran off. (That’s a punk move).
“Just Smacked The SH– outta @JoeBudden at the #LHHReunion Everybody have a Nice Day…. #QueensAllDay,” Cons wrote on Twitter after the first incident.
Joe was sure to follow up with his side of the story on Twitter soon after.
But his boo thing and reality show co-star Tahiry Jose came to her man’s side and hit Consequence before he ran off.
Joe got on the phone with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez later that night and publicly invited his enemy to the bathroom where the two can ‘talk’ without cameras around.
The details are scant, but things got turned all the way up late that night, so much so the police were called.
“Yo @ItsTheCons u good or nah,” Budden tweeted, showing sarcastic concern after the second incident occurred. “Hope son ight, I was headed home & seen dude talking to police while Jen was crying.. #QueensAllDay tho.”
Con fired back via Twitter saying, “@JoeBudden Y’all hit like bitches #straightlikethat Actually Tahiry hit me harder n—a. I told the Police that I don’t press charges.”
*Black gossip site Bossip is caught up in controversy surrounding a recent post that showed photos claiming to be model/actress Esther Baxter’s lifeless fetus in a toilet.
Baxter granted Bossip an exclusive video interview to explain her side of a breakup with rapper Joe Budden, who she claims beat her so bad that she suffered a miscarriage when she was 3 months along. On May 3 during a public dispute, Esther tweeted to Budden, “Documented proof speaks volumes!!! You can put out pics of me naked!! But I have pics of abuse and death!!! Try me!!”
Bossip claims that Esther personally sent them the photos. The website tweeted to Ozone Magazine EIC, Julia Beverly: “She sent it to us. That’s how she wanted to tell her side of the story.”
Esther, on the other hand, denies that she gave the photos to Bossip.
A debate is now brewing in the black blogosphere over whether Bossip’s decision to post the photos was appropriate in the first place.
Meanwhile, XXLMag.com reports today that Budden told Funkmaster Flex on Hot 97 that Baxter’s story is completely false.
“If the subject matter were true at all, then I’d have been sitting there like anybody else saying ‘Jesus, this guy’s a monster, this guy’s the devil here on earth,’” he said. “But nah, it’ s a bunch of lies. Lies, lies, lies, lies, lies. For the record, just so we’re totally clear, I never hit Esther. Never, ever, ever, ever.”
Budden also said the photos given to Bossip were fabricated.
“These are photos that she had texted me at some point or another,” Budden said. “When she was sending them to me I was like ‘Oh, this is a bunch of nonsense. Like these are altered. There’s something not adding up with these photos.’ Like I said, common sense cures a lot of this. I’m a man, right. Even if I didn’t have any strength at all, if I woulda beat you, you’d be in the ER. Something would be broke, something would be hurt. It’d be a little more than your little makeup that you’re putting on your stomach and your neck and taking pictures of it. It’d be a little more than that.”
Budden also said the court document that recorded the alleged abuse is based on lies. “They put a picture up there of these court documents, and the court documents make me out to sound like a monster,” Budden said. “But all it is, is her going to the precinct saying ‘I want to file this, this is what happened,’ they write it down, and that’s it. Whatever she says goes on the paper. It doesn’t really say too much. She was in the courtroom with me holding hands dropping the charges.”
Budden said it’s common sense that if he actually did beat Baxter, she wouldn’t have gotten back together with him after the supposed brawl. “You don’t do all the things that she says that I did and then come right back to the same man,” he said.
Budden mocked Baxter’s sit-down with Bossip, calling it a “Barbara Walter-ish interview with the dramatic ‘Full House’ theme music in the background” and dubbing Baxter a “good actress,” but said the topic of domestic abuse is no laughing matter.
“Like I said, that subject matter’s very serious,” he said. “It’s not anything to joke around about.”
Below, Budden’s dis track explaining his side of the Esther Baxter drama.
