*Rosie Perez and Jennifer Lopez have been frosty toward each other for more than two decades, Perez reveals in her upcoming memoir, Handbook for an Unpredictable Life.
It all started on the set of “In Living Color,” where Perez was the choreographer for the Fly Girl dancers and J.Lo was auditioning to join the group.
Perez says she immediately noticed Lopez, who she recalled as a beautiful girl with “a big ass,” reports the New York Post. Show creator and host, Keenan Ivory Wayans, wasn’t a fan though. She had to convince him to hire Lopez, who he thought was “chubby and corny.”
The comedy veteran, and originator of the “Scary Movie” franchise, recently landed a new series on ABC, The Hollywood Reporter has leaked.
The show centers around a cookie cutter white guy who marries into a sprawling, tightly-knit African American family. Wayans will write and executive produce the project by 20th Century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment. (There are no plans for Wayans to star.)
Keenan’s goal this time around is appealing to a multi-generational audience, offering the potential for broad viewership along the lines of the hit, Modern Family. Additionally, it has the ability to lure African-American viewers, a demographic that’s currently underserved in the broadcast marketplace.
Wayans, repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman, is best known in TV circles as creator and host of Fox’s In Living Color and as host of his own short-lived syndicated talk show.
More recently, the comedian has experienced success as a writer, producer and/or director on movies such as Scary Movie, White Chicks and Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.
*”Second Generation Wayans” made it’s triumphant premiere Tuesday night (01-15-13) on BET!
The comedy loosely based on the real life of the young members of the Wayans family (Damien Dante Wayans and Craig Wayans), had a successful debut and EURweb associate CNikky caught up with the cast, BET CEO Debra Lee and proud Uncle, Keenan Ivory Wayans at the red carpet premiere.
The stars of the show, Craig Wayans, Damien Dante Wayans and Tatyana Ali told us what we can expect from their characters this season. But you know we had to have a little fun with them too…. (Watch both interviews below)
While the Wayans family is arguably one of the most famous families in Hollywood, we wanted to know, “If you had to insert yourself into another famous family, who would it be?” If you watched Damien and Affion’s interview yesterday, you know what they said. But what did Keenan Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans and BET CEO Debra Lee have to say???
In case you missed the premiere of Second Generation Wayans last night on BET, you should know a little about the show and it’s crazy cast of characters!
The gorgeous Tatyana Ali plays the assistant to Craig and Damien Wayans and when I asked her about her character, she said:
“She’s the one girl in the crew, she keeps the guys in line. She’s really smart, really business savvy and you know … she makes sure their about their business.”
Debra Lee is excited about BET’s line up this year with shows like, “The Game,” “Let’s Stay Together,” “Reed Between The Lines,” and now “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and “Second Generation Wayans.”
“We have great programming, it’s working well and 2013 is going to be a good year!”
Watch the interview for more about the show below:
Keenan Ivory Wayans’ ex wife is set to join the cast the cast of “Hollywood Exes” and yes, you guessed it, she’ll play the ex-wife of Keenan Ivory Wayans.
According to reports, Daphne Wayans – who was married to Keenan from 2001 to 2004 and has 5 children with him – will join the cast for the second season of the VH1 show just as soon as they get picked up by the network.
The former Mrs. Wayans will be in grand company. She’ll be joining the exes of Prince, R. Kelly, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy and Jose Canseco as they try to come out of their husbands’ shadows and into their own.
TMZ shot Daphne hanging out with her future co-stars (below), and they all seemed pretty chummy.
*Just like the headline says, this page/board is where you can discuss the stuff that we didn’t cover in today’s issue. (It’s sort of like feedback with a twist) Remember, NO name calling, racial taunting, graphic sex talk and vulgarity in general, PLEASE.

*Keenan, Shawn and Marlon Wayans are due in a Los Angeles federal court next month to defend allegations from a former assistant that they ripped off his jokes for their book, “You Know You’re a Golddigger When…”
Jared Edwards worked for the comedy family for a decade and wrote jokes about women who prey upon wealthy men. He claims he pitched the idea for book that would include material like “You know you’re a golddigger when you know more about sports players’ stats than an ESPN analyst.”
According to Edwards’ lawsuit, the Wayans brothers rejected the idea, then allegedly did their own version.
Edwards is claiming that the Wayans Bros. (and St. Martin’s Press) not only committed copyright infringement but also breached an implied promise to pay him for use of his ideas.
The book was far from a best-seller, so the judge has capped a damage award to the amount of money the Wayans got as an advance for writing the book, foreclosing any of the publisher’s profits.
