Former NBA player Dominique Wilkins competes in the shooting stars competition during NBA All-Star Saturday Night basketball Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Houston.
*NBA legend Dominique Wilkins is giving the side eye to LeBron James’ career-high and Miami Heat franchise-high 61 point outing against the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday, reports Ball Don’t Lie.
The game has been the source of much discussion already, reigniting the MVP race with Kevin Durant and raising more questions about LeBron’s place in NBA history.
Wilkins, for one, came up with a list of reasons why James’ scoring frenzy was not really that historic.
*Step aside Super Bowl because these basketball stars aren’t gonna stop ballin’ next weekend.
Football stars will not only be present in NYC during the highly anticipated Super Bowl, but basketball pros are playing in NYC as well.
LeBron James and Kevin Durant are among basketball celebrities set to play during a weekend dominated by the Super Bowl.
*You can put Kevin Durant on the list of celebrities who have had their twitter account hacked.
As a result of the hacking, media sources report the NBA star’s clean-cut image has taken a shot amid a leaked twitter photo of him smoking hookah, a legal substance most commonly filled with tobacco.
*Is another “big three” on the horizon in the NBA?
Oklahoma City Thunder’s superstar forward Kevin Durant was thrust into a speculative discussion by television analyst, and former player, Jalen Rose recently.
Rose contends that Durant, who becomes a free agent in 2016, will jump ship and sign with Houston to play with buddy, and former teammate, James Harden along with athletic big man Dwight Howard (watch below).
Durant took some time away from training camp to address Rose’s “tantalizing” prediction.
Q: Did you hear what Jalen Rose said about the Houston thing?
Do you have any thoughts on that?
Nah, I’m here for the Thunder (laughs). I mean, that’s all I can say. I’m not thinking far down the line at all. It’s about today. Today we got better against the Chicago Bulls. I can’t tell the future. I can’t speak on that. That’s his opinion. I’m just going to keep playing for the Thunder. I love playing here.
Rose made the comments in an NBA preview discussion with Bill Simmons for Grantland. Durant, who famously announced a five-year maximum extension with the Thunder via Twitter in July of 2010, is signed through the end of the 2015-16 season. Recent history tells us there’s little Durant, or any superstar approaching free agency, can do to quell the speculation aside from emphasizing that he’s focused on battling for a championship in Oklahoma City.
Until Durant puts ink on a new contract with the Thunder, rumblings of what’s to come will persist as it did with Dwight Howard in 2012 and LeBron James in 2010.
#35 would clearly prefer not to be a part of that conversation. Can’t blame him.
*The start of the 2013 NBA season is right around the corner.
With that in mind, the prognosticators are looking into their crystal balls to give us the who, what, where and when, etc.
But in this case, we’re looking at the league from a mid to long term perspective through the mind of former NBA player turned analyst Jalen Rose.
He’s making some bold predictions regarding Oklahoma City Thunder players Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook:
Jalen Rose has predicted that OKC All-Star Kevin Durant will be looking to pack up his bags and head to the Houston Rockets to join Dwight Howard and buddy James Harden to form a formidable “BIG THREE”, the current trend in the NBA. WOW! Could you imagine that line-up!?
If this prediction holds true, it would not be able to happen until 2016 when KD becomes a free agent. I know, I know, KD is OKC’s poster boy and he is very active in the community, but remember, Durant played his college basketball at the University of Texas and the loss of Harden to the Rockets is a move that is still being felt by OKC’s Durant and Westbrook. OKC was not able to keep its own Big Three together when they decided to trade Harden, whom Durant has gone on record to call a Top 10 NBA player.
Oh, but the prediction does not stop there! Rose also predicts that Russell Westbrook and Kevin Love, who were teammates at UCLA, will meet up again with the Los Angeles Lakers !! It is not a secret that the Lakers are in need of making some major moves and this move, again, makes a lot of sense. Basketball is a sport that relies highly on player chemistry. Why try to force or experiment with chemistry, when you can put players together that have proven to exhibit chemistry?

*Kevin Durant is so proud to be able to call two-time WNBA champion Monica Wright his future wife.
Wright, who plays for the Minnesota Lynx, just took home her second championship in three years. With two basketball stars looking to share the same household, there is bound to be some friendly competition between the couple.
Durant spoke so highly of his fiancee while comparing his accomplishments to hers. Wright was able to win two titles in only four season, whereas Durant has players six years and although has come close to a ring, has yet to score the championship.
The star admits to being his own worst critic but acknowledging shortcomings as an athlete is something many of the greats have done
Although the NBA and WNBA are two different leagues with different rules and circumstances, Durant insists that it is all about winning a title at the end of the day and ending the streak as No. 2.
While he may grow increasingly frustrated with his own endeavors, he still welcomes a champion, Wright, into his family.
