The month long observation was renamed by a 2009 proclamation issued by President Obama. (June was formerly and formally known as Black Music Month under a proclamation from then President Jimmy Carter in June, 1979.) It is our hope that EURweb readers, music programmers, agents, promoters and fans will visit our special section daily to review, purchase and share news about the new music and new artists that we have here.
There are indeed some gems, such as new releases from the legendary Lenny Williams, a return to the scene by Karyn White, emerging artist Dorie Pride, NBC’s The Voice finalist Kim Yarbrough, Eric Benet’s hotnew project “The One” and more. While you’re at it, enjoy my new single as well “Mr. President’s Girl.”
EURweb also acknowledges the fact that we are losing more and more of our legends everyday. This year we pay homage to NickAshford,Etta James, Don Cornelius, Whitney Houston,Donna Summer and Chuck Brown, as well as all of the others who recently passed away and are not mentioned here. We seek to honor black music’s past, while preserving the present and establishing the future. It was great to meet WRNB Philadelphia’s host in the midday Mo’Shay LaRen and to have her vote of confidence in our vision to pave the way for the new while observing black music’s history.
We are in it to win it and hopefully we can re-invigorate the industry by spotlighting these deserving artists. Please enjoy and take action by clicking HERE, because the old industry model is no more. Even the best of artists must walk through the door proving that they have an active fan base. EURweb, we can do it. Let the celebration begin!
*EURweb.com’s Black Music Month Artist Spotlight captures the sizzle of Kim Yarbrough, a finalist on the 2012 Season of NBC’s The Voice. Miss Yarbrough is also an actress, and violinist who has performed in Memphis (her hometown), Los Angeles, Paris, Las Vegas and around the globe. Kim has two CDs, available on iTunes and Amazon: a single, “Nice and Slow” and “Dharma 888”, an EP of inspirational songs, including “Road to Freedom”, inspired by and written for the feature film, “The Great Debaters.”
*The deadline has been extended for EURweb’s first ever Black Music Month Artist spotlight.
EURweb is proud to present a unique chance for artists and music labels to be featured on our news site for the month of June 2012. This is a promotional opportunity to showcase both new artists and established artists who are re-entering today’s music scene.
EURweb is also encouraging major labels and music programmers to get ready to think outside the box and re-consider a time when radio was friendly to new music, as long as it was good enough; and not just lean on programming what has already been charted. Currently in the line up is the dazzling vocalist Kim Yarbrough (pictured above), who was a finalist on season 2 of NBC’s The Voice, the legendary Lenny Williams, new artist Tony Walk and many more. There will be some surprises here indeed!
Music fans get ready to support this effort and add some spice to your music collection. Artists, managers and independent labels may inquire about placement in the EURweb Black Music Month Artist Spotlight via email to LSRadioscope@hotmail.com. This is not a contest but an exclusive music marketing event at EURweb.com. Space is limited, inquire immediately. The deadline has been extended to May 29th 2012. Please put EUR BLACK MUSIC MONTH SPECIAL in the subject line of your email.
